View Full Version : I like this new Dick Cepek tire
MikE2 04-07-2007, 01:52 AM The Mud Country. I'm glad to see some more companies are going away from that standard mud radial look.

It looks like a very quiet and well mannered tire, yet agressive enoufgh for the off road. Looks like it would be an awesome snow tire too.
And they have some nice sizes

Got the 265x75-16 for the SD...gonna be needing new tires on that soon anyways. I like the 36x15.50's too
Someone buy a set and let me know how they work out.
blackbronco92 04-07-2007, 02:07 AM Damn nice tires.
I would consider those for a future set for sure.
metal1313 04-07-2007, 02:21 AM i liked my fc-2's but they werent great in snow, and since ther made by mickey thompson, they aint too cheap
jopes 04-07-2007, 02:36 AM Mike what did a set of 4 run you for the SD?
MikE2 04-07-2007, 02:44 AM I don't have them.
Now that I read what I wrote it looks like I said I do. What I meant was Dick Cepek has the size I need for the SD.
jopes 04-07-2007, 02:49 AM I am thinking next spring the SD will need a set of new shoes.
Bronkzilla 04-07-2007, 02:58 AM i was thinking of my sd as soon as i saw the tires.. im gonna need new tires in a month or three..
MikE2 04-07-2007, 03:11 AM my new Chevy will need a good set of snow tires too at the end of this summer.
jackhart 04-07-2007, 03:43 AM i like those tires and think cepek is putting out some really good tires. however, someone has to preach the maxxis gospel.

the maxxis bighorns are a better tire and cheaper to boot. they are siped, studdable, quiet as hell, tough as nails and i have yet to find its equal for the money. i use them on the dd and wheel them on weekends. can't say enough good things about 'em.

Bonzai 04-07-2007, 05:16 AM i plan on gettin those bighorns as well because the word of mouth around here.
78Bronco4x4 04-07-2007, 11:43 AM Petersons did a mud tire review in their last issue and claim the new DC MT is a damn good tire. Im thinkin about gettin some in 33x12 for the bronco.
peteyg 04-07-2007, 11:48 AM My next tire is going to be the Toyo MT. I've been super impressed with them, from seeing them on a couple of friend's rigs.
broncofire75 04-07-2007, 01:54 PM Ive been looking pretty hard at both the mud countrys and the bighorns. They both seem like they wear well and will get you through just about anything. Im also considering the firestones which look pretty mean.
Goose 04-07-2007, 03:38 PM I saw them mounted on a rim yesterday at Summit racing. Nice looking tire, wide open lugs, thinkin about them for my next tire as well
Shadofax 04-07-2007, 03:52 PM I like that the size they say they are is actually pretty darn close to real dimensions, at least that is what their sizing chart shows. Most tires manuf. except interco, if you buy a 35" it's usually about 34.3" or so.
Joes93Bronco 04-07-2007, 07:56 PM And a large size selection, unlike those Bighorns.
I was lookin at those Toyo MT's the other day at Les Schwab. I likey them.

I almost bought a set of 37's last year. They look neat....

Those things are very popular around here. I think it's mostly due to the availability of larger rim sizes though. I've heard they don't air down well, but the dude that told me that talks mostly out of his @ss.
Those Cepeks look good. Maybe I'll check them out when the time comes. Bighorns are in the lead currently though.
-Spazmatic- 04-08-2007, 12:51 AM Heh, funny you mention Toyo's...a friend of mine put brand spankin' new toyo M/T's on his truck a few weeks back....not 3 days after he got them he hit some road debris, popped his right rear tire, and slammed his truck into a guard rail. It's sitting right now in the junk yard, the back axle is almost perpendicular with the front one, and his whole right side is literally gone.
Pretty cool carnage but he was pissed about those tires (his insurance gave him below bb and didn't cover his aftermarket stuff)
MikE2 04-08-2007, 01:36 AM They won't cover anything aftermarket unless its brought up when the policy is bought and its insured with the truck.
DBerk 04-08-2007, 04:09 AM Most tires manuf. except interco, if you buy a 35" it's usually about 34.3" or so.
I knew the Baja Claws on my friends Dodge were around 34 and so are the Mud Terrains, I may be able to get me some Iroks at reduced cost this summer, know a guy whos gonna attempt to run tge 36 Irok on a Dana 35 thats under a ranger, I hope he snaps that axle and sells me his tires for cheap to fix his axle :toothless
