View Full Version : Perkins deisel question
roach57 04-08-2007, 04:14 AM Ok might not be the right section for this but i am working on my 66 bronco that i just got since there isn't any work to be done to my sold but still here bronco.
Out at the farm i happen to have a 4 cyl perkins turbo deisel laying around we took out of a combine, runs great and is very low hour motor. I have been browsing around and just wondering if anyone knows of any places that sells adapters for these deisel engine to bolt up to something like a NP435 4 speed. i am still deciding what route to go with an engine in this old bronco but since i have the perkins i thought i would investigate and see if there are any adapters, would be pretty neat to have this little bronco with a deisel.
anyway any websites or anything you have come across would be helpful. thanks.
Handy_andy_cv64 04-08-2007, 11:09 AM I'm not sure if they're still in business, but if so, check with Advance Adaptors. They were the ones that I remember who had everything for that purpose, but you may still strike out, in which case, you make your own.
ScorpionBoy 04-08-2007, 02:05 PM that is such a sweet plan. please put that motor in the EB and do a writeup.
fairlane_68 04-08-2007, 02:10 PM THat is a unique engine, and you still should be able to find parts for it, seeing as how it was used in a lot of equipment. I've read that International put them in early scouts. Put up some pics!!!
Handy_andy_cv64 04-08-2007, 02:47 PM If that's true, then an adaptor is more likely.

I've never seen one though, so it ain't gospel.
roach57 04-09-2007, 01:19 AM Thanks am going to contact advance adapters. I also heard some perkins where in older dodge power wagons. I am still going over the logistics of the extra weight and extra cooling needs and deisel fule tanks set-up. I will keep you guys updated though. should find out more soon.
MikE2 04-09-2007, 01:22 AM I have heard Perkins engines have commonly been available in South American (or was it australian?) Fords, so there probably is an easy way to do it.
fairlane_68 04-09-2007, 01:27 AM This thread is worthless without pics! :D
roach57 04-09-2007, 01:33 AM pics of what? I can show you some pictures of the bronco itself i guess. it doesn't have the metal cab or doors anymore, i already took everything off that didn't come factory. It is an original 66 roadster with a 144 cubic inch engine and 3 speed tranny. it is going to get 3.5 inches of lift, some tires, a lot of bodywork and maybe a perkins deisel soon.

fairlane_68 04-09-2007, 01:39 AM I meant the Perkins. I wanna see the Perkins.
roach57 04-09-2007, 09:15 AM well that is 500 miles away from me at the family ranch so that is a little harder to just walk out and grab some pictures of. if I find the parts and decide to go that route then i will be posting tons of pics of the whole install.
