I just tried this stuff in my 1987 F-250, 351W 4 Bar Carb,
with a new standing idle problem.
The truck would not idle without tension on the gas pedal.
I was thinking it ( the carb ) needed a cleaning.
If not a rebuild. But, thought id try easy way out first.
I bought the Lucas "Tune up in a bottle" and filled the gas tank with
approximately 7 gallons of gas ( $20 worth , its at $2.83 a gallon MID-grade right now, at "Shell" ) along with about half a bottle of regular STP gas treatment red bottle, just for good measure.
The STP I use for general cleaning. Then I put in the entire bottle of Lucas Oils "Tune up in a bottle" . It has been raining all day so youd figure the idle problem would get worse for the holly.
I drove it around doing errands, for a while then drove on the highway to work about 18 miles at around 70 miles an hour.
During the trip I noticed the throttle was getting a little crisper. Did my work and when I got out drove home and after getting off the highway and having to stop at a red light , noticed I could take my foot completely off the gas pedal and the engine would idle without stalling. Though not strong yet I could still remove my foot from the pedal completely. Also a little rumble in the engine also seems to have dissapeared. I wont know just how good it worked till tomorrow when the gas is almost gone and I put another $20 in the tank. But so far this stuff seems to work good.
Ill definately try it again later, and just thought id post this incase anyone had seen the bottle and thought about trying it.
Like I said the STP I use for general cleaning, and would not expect it to cure a standing idle problem like I had.
Im sure the "Lucas Oil tune up in a bottle" cured my idle problem"
Ill know for certain on the next fill up, and post, if the results are worth it.
Thumbs up so far, thanks "Lucas Oil " !
