Hello,

I'm troubleshooting stereo problems on my 96 with Premium sound (factory CD) -- only getting sound out of the left speakers. I thought surely it must be the amp, so I got another amp from Steve83 and swapped it out. No change. The amp was a real BEAR to swap out, probably extra stuff behind the dash because it's a 96. I'm a little frustrated at this point, so I'm looking for some help.

Before I try swapping the wire harness from stereo to amp, which looks like another BEAR, I'd like to try another stereo, since that should be much easier.

My factory stereo has a sticker on the back from what looks like having been repaired by a local shop here. Don't know when or why, but I think it's a safe bet that it was repaired. I'm hoping this is the problem.

I'm looking for someone I can meet up with for a few minutes and try plugging their stereo into my wire harness. It doesn't need to be a CD player to try it, but it will need to be premium sound.

If it works and you want to sell the stereo, we can talk about it, otherwise I'll be happy knowing what the problem is and I can search for another stereo somewhere else.

I'm in Everett, WA but will travel or meet up somewhere reasonable.

Thanks,

Adam

Help?

I wouldn't only need to plug it in. It would literally be like a 10 minute job at most. The radios in these pop right out with the little tools and I wouldn't even need to pop it in my truck, just plug in the plugs.

I could throw in a 6 pack or something if that would motivate someone....

Sorry man, location is right but my 78 doesn't have premium sound (unless you count the engine) or any stero for that matter...

Thanks for the pity reply. ;)

If anyone comes up with something -- or has one in their truck, let me know what it would take to borrow it for 10 minutes. I don't want to shell out any more money or time on this to replace things that are perfectly good.

One last time -- I lost a bid for one on eBay -- would just like to try it before I buy a new stereo....

Figure I can help you out here. The only thing that makes the "premium sound" package premium, is that amp. Nothing else is changed. So any stereo will do.

Thanks Dennis. I managed to come across another factory CD player that fixed the problem, so all is well. Good info.

not any factory stereo would work.. the plug ins are different from a premium to a regular

Have you compared them side-to-side? Ive dealt with two different 'premium' systems, one in a '93 escort, and the other in a '94 ranger. Both were able to bypass the amp and plug ino the deck.

89MustangGX,

I have a 95 Bronco Eddie Bauer with the Premium Sound / CD player. The radio (head unit?) reads BAD when I try to turn it on. So I replaced the radio with an after market CD player.

I bought the after market wiring adapter to plug the new CD player into my factory "P100 JBL" Ford Premium sound wiring harness. However, I am only getting sound out of the Driver side speakers as well. Since the factory CD player was toast I don't know if it had the same problems. I have a Wiring adapter that will by-pass the factory amp, but I do not know where the amp is located.

Does any one know the location of the factory amp in a 1995 Bronco Eddie Bauer?

Also, does any one have a clue or a guess as to the problem with the one sided sound?
