The weather was great last weekend at Tellico. We should consider Fun In The Spring instead of Roast In The Summer. We had the place mostly to our selves. The whole weekend I bet we saw less than 2 dozen vehicles on the trails.

Same here. I saw maybe 5-6 rigs on the trail. 2 CJs, a gray toyota tube truck on 44s, a XJ with maybe a 2" lift and everything else stock that handled trail 4 pretty easy, and a lifted TJ. Im planning on taking the bronco up to trail 4 eventually and driving to the base of 11 because from then on it got pretty narrow.

That is the best idea I've heard in a loooong time. It's too F'ing hot in late July in the South.

We try to do it at that time to make sure folks with kids can attend (schools out) it really don't matter when we do it, it'll still be the same 5 or 6 groups showing up....someone allways has an excuse not to show.
Think how many ya'll have been to....[sound of a gavel] defense rests!
Not trying to sound like a dick but us RITS folks have been trying since day one to get this event to be like a "son of the beach" or "stampede" like event cause we thought we were every bit as hard core as the early Bronc crowd but we found out that our group was just good at excuses while thier group was planning thier whole year around thier events....kinda discouraging..:shrug

Why not both? I'm thinking of making the Superlift run annual. We could do it every spring... Last time I went, we saw one other Jeep there and one Yamaha Rhino.

Hey Ive made 2 of the RITS so far. I wasnt a member for the 1st one, so I cant be held accountable for that one. Didnt make 06 but like everyone, some drives are just too far.

I too would love to see it as large as the Son of the beach or ECBR F4A. Maybe spring time is the key...first big ride of the year, cooler temps, but still warm. who knows.

im up for whenever or where ever. doesnt matter. yes its hot in july. yes id rather wheel when its cooler, yes i wish rits would get larger. the dixie chapter is large. compare how many posts our chapter has compared to the others. yes we should be a large group for a nice big event. there are lots of fsb members that are dixie chapter so we should be large. but as said above lots of people cant always make it. rits is a good event. maybe there should be another event in the spring. then we could have two times the fun.

Exactly. I have had my vacation request in for RITS since February at work.

I have kids, if RITS is moved I will end up missing most of it in driving time since I can't just take them out of school...

Like this year for example. I am leaving on Wednesday night to be there Thursday and leaving Sunday.

If we held it in April I would have left Ga Friday night To get there half way through Saturday and turn around and leave Sunday? WTF?

I agree the weather stinks. It was hot and nasty. I won't say don't move it, I will say if it is being moved this year I need to know pretty soon as I have a cabin rented.

It was dirsected at people like me---I know I am a slacker. Although, I have never said I would attend one and back out at the last minute.

I'll beat myself on the head:twak

Yeah--Will convoy if you can get your old ass out of bed at 4am :thumbup

Brian

Pete--For us to convoy you must have something to convoy with. Don't wait till the last minute and get a tow rig because you know your going to have to tweak a few things on any rig you get. I've got my eye on a 08 F-450 that has your name written all over it.

1998 Powerstroke turbo diesels were put by the millions into E350's, Ford ambulances, dumptruck, and tow trucks in 1998.

Look on Auto or truck trader, look on ebay. They are all over the place. Finding one that migrated into a F350 is not unlikely. :shrug

Excuse me almighty one---I know what Pete is looking for and I guess I should have made myself more clear as in 98 F250 psd's.

I have no idea since it's someone elses brain child....but RITS is the last week in July and is definantly family freindly, as stated earlier thats why the time frame is what it is so that kids haven't started back to school yet....

yeah I say spring or fall would be more tolerable weather but don't change anything.... just add more. I'd much rather go wheeling multiple times a year than once... Of course... I should have made it to the april ride at tellico but had way too many problems. I'm sorry again... haha

:wacko I was not rude in the least bit, nor did I pretend to be an almighty one. Nor have I ever represented myself as an almighty one on this forum. No need to make snide remarks at me.

Pete said he was looking at a 98 PSD right now. You said thats not possible, all I'm saying is yes it is. They did too make PSD's that year. Even if they hadn't someone could easily swap it into the F250, certainly not something that has not been done before. No need to have snapped at me, I didn't kick the sand into your *.

I was thinking about doing FITS instead of RITS next year. Same event, just moved to the cooler spring months. From the feedback I've seen I guess we will do both next year. Either way I think I'd like to do an annual trip to Tellico in the spring.
