Greetings all...

I have recently acquired a Bronco to use for a parts truck to upgrade another Bronco I have. Problem is that I could use a bit of help in swapping stuff around, as I am physically unable to do all of the stuff myself.

I have all of the tools that will be needed to do the project. Even air tools...

In the end, I will have a fully running and complete Bronco to offer in exchange for your help. Here's my list of things to do to it...

Replace the Torque converter, swap the interiors around, and other various smaller projects...

It is realstically a couple of weekends worth of work. During that time, I will supply food, beverages, and lots of hang time. In the end, you go home with a fully running and complete 88 Bronco and a clear title. Drive it, use it for parts, make a trail rig out of it... whatever.

The parts truck is an XLT, but I am stealing the interior and replacing it with the "custom" interior that will be coming out of the other Bronco. It is red, and in generally good shape, other than the driver's seat that has a couple of rips on it. (I have a lady in town that runs an upholstery shop who will repair ir for $75.00 if you are interested.) It will have new Pirelli all-terrains all the way around. (There is about 600 miles of wear on them) The AC works, and the truck has less than 150,000 miles on it. It is a 302/AOD truck with push button 4x4. Everything works on this truck except for the power window assemblies, which I will be stealing. The body is in reasonably good shape with a bit of rust here and there.

Here is the interior that will be in the truck after we are done:

If you are interested (and know how to wrench), please let me know. I am in Cameron, NC... (Between Sanford and Southern Pines)

My e-mail addy is voiceovers at moogmedia dot com. (Sorry for spelling it out, but you know how the spam bots are!)

Thanks in advance!

I have done all that work before, but sadly...Im live a little far away, i don't know if my current transportation would make it that far...i don't really trust it. If you were only closer to charlotte....

I really appreciate it. Perhaps, when it is all done, we can meet and go wheelin!

Thanks a bunch for the response!

oh def. Theres plenty of us FSB'ers around charlotte. If you can't find anyone else, let me know, maybe we can work it out and get it done in a weekend shot....shouldn't be too hard

how much of that interior do you plan to swap ? dash and all ?

Moogvo

Pretty much everything short of the base dash itself. It is the same dash that is in the other Bko with a different cluster. I am, however planning a swap of the cluster so I can have a tach!

I am not sure about the door panels yet. I am pricing after market power window and power lock assemblies...

Otherwise... EVERYTHING!

Hardest part, I imagine is going to be the torque converter.

with air tools and a tranny jack on concrete you can get it done in about 5 hours with 2 people...thats my record...

WOW! Nice...

I have air tools, and access to a tranny jack... Maybe even a concrete floor... I was figuring on a couple of days on that one... Is this also a good time to replace the wishbone pipe?

im not familiar with a wishbone pipe....it would be a good time to replace your pan gasket and filter, rear main seal of the engine if its leakin, and grab a new o ring for the dipstick tube

Wishbone pipe is a pipe that connects to the back of the heads and then connects to a downpipe to the cat.

oh, yeah, thats an easy fix...can be done about anytime really

Really? I have had several techs tell me they wouldn't touch the thing. I have been cattying that part around for 3 years because nobody wanted to have anything to do with it.

I would have tried it myself... The mind is willing, but the body is just not able...

i don't see how it can be that difficult for an able bodied person...just superman across the motor....use a wrench..heck you don't even need the gaskets, just some rtv.

dern, work for you with your tools and get a free bronco. that sounds like something i could do. but i'm strapped for time and if i were single i'd be all over that. but, that's how it works.

edit: what's your time line on this? and what are your other various projects?

Well... I want it done yesterday... LOL!

Reality check...

The wife wants a deck built... So that is going to take priority over anything "I" want to do... I can have that done in a weekend tho, so it won't be this weekend... Dang it!

So... the faster I can get the Bronco done, the faster I can sell the Suburban, and the faster I can buy something else... It is really a rotating project.

Here is the list of things I want to do, not all of which will require assistance...

1. (The biggie) replace torque converter and wishbone pipe. This is one I definately will need help with...

2. replace rear wheel cylinder. (or line... whichever is bad)

3. fix rear axle... (I am not sure what is wrong with it... it has too much play "in and out".)

4. Rip out interior. Look for rust, paint door jambs, and other areas that will show when the truck is all put back together.

5. Replace with interior from Donor Bronco.

6. Switch power windows/locks into Bronco, replace power window motors.

7. Switch out headlights.

8. Take care of minor bodywork and prep for paint.

All parts removed from the "donor" bronco will be replaced with the parts taken from the other Bronco. None of which are BAD really, but this is my one opportunity to get my Bronco the way I want it.

Dammit, I have to work this Saturday...I could make it there Saturday, but it wouldn't be till probably 3:00 at least (provided I don't take any wrong turns/get lost).

This weekend is probably out since I will have to build a deck for the wife... (and I don't have the torque converter yet anyhow... I suppose I had better get on the schtik!)

Anyone have any idea how long this project should take? I am going to try to get started on it and do the stuff I can do myself...

Do you still need help on it? I can talk to a friend and we ride down there and help. I can do the interior while he does the tranny.
