who's got em? what kinda travel you cycle and with how long of shock?

know if the f150 pre-run packs are any different?

I have the 10 leaf pack that gives about 3" of lift, and King 2.5x12 shocks. I haven't cycled the rear to measure travel, but a safe guesstimate would be around 14". To properly cycle the springs requires them to be taken apart, and cycled one leaf at a time, at least that's what i'm told.

the f150/Bronco springs are the same width up to 96 which is 3" wide. from 97 up the f150 went to a 2.5" wide leaf. Several people are running them on the pre 97 trucks and really like them. Claims are made that due to the narrowwer leaf, better travel/articulation is achieved, along with a better ride.

I'm running the 3" wide leafs and am very happy with them. They are very flexy, and the ride is awesome.

I hope that helps.

yea it does. got any pictures of them installed? i'm wondering how much arc they have. i don't really want a lift spring, but could always make one work somehow. i ASSume you are running the stock shackle setup?

I am running the same, I have not measured either but around 14" of travel. I am not sure on the shocks, currently running the bilstein 5100s with I believe 10" of travel on the shock I would have to double check on that though. If you are looking to keep your stock height you can order them as such direct from Deaver. Give them a call, their springs are the best IMO, when they introduced the progressive packs alot of people laughed at them until they used them. I can tell you that the ride on the street and off road is much nicer and the leafs perform great in all aspects.
I am also running stock shackles. I dont have any pics handy but they I dont have anything fancy to look at back there to look at. I plan on making some changes in the rear setup but the leafs are staying. As I said before Deaver will make you up a set to your needs and not charge you a ton extra for it either. Those guys are great down there and you get treated every bit as good as the high dollar race truck. Hope it helps.

The wider leaf spring helps combat sway. If you're goal is increased articulation I would go with the narrow leaves.

Here are a couple articulation pics of my Bronco. As far as I know National made my leaves but Deaver builds good leaves too. I have a 2-link kit on my truck and removing it MIGHT allow for a bit more articulation.

yea, both posts help. i was mostly interested in their off the shelf packs because those can be bought used. buying new factory direct isn't really in the budget right now. although, i could just whip out some plastic and spring for new packs front and rear....hehehehe that would be sweet.

the real goal is a leaf sprung solid axle rig on 40s that can plow through the rubicon or baja with equal grace. i've got all the flex i realistically need, but wheel travel could be improved significantly. i figure with deavers front and rear, bumpstops, and 2.5s my rig would do pretty good at speed. it doesn't do bad, but there are definitely times when i remember i am running junkyard springs front and rear lol...having 40s is nice because you just mow everything in your way down and don't need any suspension

I think EQUAL grace is a little optimistic, but I'm sure you can make it work relatively well.

BTW: If you're buying used, don't limit yourself to Deaver. National makes great springs too. They've just developed a bad reputation due to poor customer service from the previous owners. I hear things have gotten a lot better there but in your case it doesn't matter. Just buy whatever you can get at a good price. Even if their not exactly what you want you can tune them.

the f150/Bronco springs are the same width up to 96 which is 3" wide.

Adding to this, the word is that f150 4wd springs are 3" wide, the 2wd springs are 2.5" wide.

Ask for the width measurement if you find a used set, Andy.

I passed on a pristine set 2 weeks ago as I'm still considering a leaf-under idea. Called the guy today and they're sold. I failed. :banghead

Deaver F53 150 springs. 18" of travel. 16" travel 3" Fox 4 tube Bypass Shocks. The springs work great on the bronco. Deaver added 2 leafs to this pack for me because of the added weight.

The last time I talked to him about it (it's been a few years), National made them. I don't know if they still are.

Lots of travel= lots of replaced springs. Be prepared.
My experence: In 4 years living in Baja in winter I have broken 2 sets and had to have 2 sets rearched. Nothing bad about Deaver springs, its just that leafs were not made to have huge flex.

I drive a 96BB & 72EB. The 96 is a white XLT 5.8, E4OD. Most of my posts are on Bronco speed.
I started out with a Spirit front and rear suspension. San Felipe roads pretty much tore up the BB. Now the thing is at Complete Fab in El Cajon getting rebuilt. I have given up on leafs and will have a 4 link with an 18" stretch. It will have an extended back cap with glass. My experiences with the BB have left my pocketbook shallow with all the issues of hard driving. Check out my sons link for the sale of the old rear suspension on class3racing.com.

Paul,

Can you tell us where on the back half of your bronco are you going to stretch it? That thing is going to be awesome with that wheel base. Can't wait to see it done.

Frame cut in front of the old front spring hanger. Bed side cut in front of where it was bulged out. Floor cut behind the seat. Shell cut thru the existing window. No time for pics until after the race. Leaving directly after build completion for touring the course and spending time down south.
