we're probably going to leave friday afternoon/evening - our usual time. staying until sunday .....

actually, the lady who i reserved it with said there are two double beds in every room -- so some of you could bunk up if you want. it'd be cheaper and not gay since you get your own bed! :thumbup

If my wife and kids stay home. I'd have no problem sharing a room, I reserved a non smoking room. I only need one bed.

By The way, If you guys (hopefully WE) are meeting at Ikea. There is an Excellent restuarant right there called "Cracker Barrel" it's very popular down south and serves affordable EXCELLENT Food, I was there for Lunch today while we were picking up cars at the Carriage Trade Auto Auction.

Zoning went through today so my fingers are crossed I think I can get my money right by then, it all depends on how many cars we can get on the lot for ebay

I've been telling Steve forever that we need to go to Cracker Barrel to eat. That was my favorite restaurant when I was young - my grandparents use to bring me there all the time when they'd come to visit. I knew they had them around here, just wasn't sure where.

Easy Fix, either put a peice of 2x4 under the pedal, or get castrated. Problem solved

The bad news.....I'm out for sure.

My trip to South Carolina got postponed to the weekend following Paragon. So I went out and put my tires on order and started getting everything together that I needed.

Well Saturday night my snowmobile decided to shit the bed on me. Unfortunately it's going to cost me over $600 to fix.......so I can't afford the trip :cry :banghead.

Sorry guys, I was really looking forward to meeting everyone and actually going on a true wheeling trip that didn't involve someone's front yard :toothless

Have fun and take lots of pics.....at least I'll be prepared for the next run.

Read about my bad snowmobile luck (http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11591&highlight=ready+kill) .

We'll have to get together some other time for some wheelin. Maybe some Adirondack stuff. Or whenever there is another run down to Paragon.

Why don't you go to this place in Rt 13 called R Tires R 4 U, they sell used BFG's with plenty of tread on them, they were going to sell me 32's for $35 each, once I get my wheels I will need another one, I will be going there. Good guys, and if you can't get 4, just wait a couple weeks and go back, it's worth it for the money.

I know that Paragon requires a full size spare but here's the beef.

I just ordered 32's. If I run the 31's I have now then I'm liable to get stuck in the parking lot of the hotel!!

Well....I have a 31" spare! Will they let the 1" go or will I have to find a crappy 32"?

Plymouth Meeting Mall (where the old IKEA is) is on E Germantown Pike, pretty much right at the intersection of the turnpike and the Northeast Extension (Mid-County exit). I'm not sure which way you would be going on the turnpike to get up to the NE Extension, so it's basically whatever's good for you.

If not, there's only one rest stop on the way up (Allentown) so we could meet there.

I still don't really know what time we're meeting up there - is anyone else planning to be at Ikea? We may have to do the cell phone # exchange again.

I've got 2 buddies coming with me but they will be riding with me down.

I think a cell phone exchange is best because I won't be down until probably 10:00PM on Friday night. It's a bit of a drive down there for me.

Also, can we make a FINAL list of DEFINATE must haves and recommended things to bring down. I've never been on an offraoding 'trip'. It's always been local stuff, if I broke, we towed it home.

Thanks

Yes they will let you run with a 31 inch spare, if not I have a 32 that you could use. The tire has to be close to the size your running, just enought to get you out of the park.

I got on the site and this is what I got:

Required items:

Orange flag. Must be 1 ft above highest point on SUV
Seat belts
SUV must be registered and insured
Drivers liscence for driver
1 tow point (more for harder trails)
Full size spare (I'm safe :thumbup)
Battery tie down (no bungies).......can someone give me a picture of a simple one?
Trash bags in SUV
Tow strap (1 per group)
Wristband.

So those are required. Any recommendations for stuff to bring?

Don't worry Bro, I ain't a big dawg either. My truck is mostly stock too.

But you're running a pretty close second to Will's 'don't give a s.hit' attitude. You'll go anywhere! :thumbup

There's not much else to bring.

You buy the flags at Paragon for like $3 bucks.
We usually get hoagies/lunch at the Uni-Mart where we stop to air down and gas up.
Like I said before, a roll of quarters would be a good idea for airing down. Also, you might want to bring some water too - we usually go to the dollar store and get some gallons or smaller bottles of water just in case the truck or ourselves overheat.

What bnkrtstk said as well - extra clothing, parts, first aid, flashlight, etc, etc

Other than that, there's not much else we would bring, partly because we're hoteling it again. If we were camping, it would be a whole different story.

Beer is a good thing .... we all like beer :beer
But remember, you can't bring it into the park and they do check coolers so whatever is left on Sunday after checkout can't be brought with.

Let me know if you know of anything CHEAP in the area!

The cheapest places I've seen around that area are going to be around $40 a night - and the Forest Hill is $45 a night with "one" person staying in a room.

If it were summer time, we'd be at Red Ridge camping for $10 a night, but 16 degree weather is not okay to camp in and they're not open anyway.

Maybe somebody on here has an extra bed and you can go halfsies - like I said before, all rooms have two double beds in them. :shrug

EDIT - OOOh, Assman, that is foul!!! :toothless Are you coming? You two could split a room.

ok, thought i'd leave u guys in suspense for a little bit while i wash up. anywho...no it wasent my 79. my dad took the 86 to work today and while he was on I95 doin about 60 the rear driveshaft decided to cut loose. it planted into the ground and "pole-vaulted" the truck up about 3 feet or so. He said it was the scariest thing he'd ever done. while the shaft was floppin around under there it whacked the fuel lines, brake lines, wire harness etc...all toast. Needless to say i came down to see if i could fix it. after about an hour fawkin with the fuel lines i decided to cut my losses and call a tow truck. jacket sopping wet with gasoline, its funny how it burns even when it's not on fire. I've fixed this truck more times than i can remember, we've had good times (ask kristy :hump ). we've had some bad times (ask kristy :hump ) i think it's time to put er down. Man, you can't be playin' with my emotions like that!!!!

That's what I forgot to mention - to make sure you have some kind of two way radio/CB. It's not required and you can't get along without it, but it sure makes it easier to keep in touch and make sure we have everyone on the trails.

Two days!! Woohoo!

I actually have Coors Light at my house too, so I'll bring that. I figure if I'm good all week, I can cheat a little on the weekend.

Is everybody ready? Got places to stay, trucks ready, etc, etc.

Who all going wants to meet at Ikea? Or at the Allentown rest stop? When? We'll just look for all the Broncos in the parking lot of the hotel when we get there. Then we know where the party is.

I still have to find some warm clothes. I went looking for thermal underwear but could only find 2x or 3x in men's and that won't fit, especially under my jeans (actually, they're a little tight to fit anything under). Guess it'll be sweats all weekend - I'm not really up on this keeping warm in the mountains while being outdoors all day type of thing. Guess I should've gone skiing more as a kid.

Okay, so here's what we got:

Steve and I were discussing leaving around 4:30/5:00 Friday afternoon, but that hasn't been confirmed yet and not too sure what time the guys from work will be ready. So I'm figuring we'll at least be up there by 8:00pm at the latest.

Jackhart, stangmata and Kev (rep) are all out for meeting at Ikea because, well, that would be retarded. As Steve said, we're probably meeting Dave at the Allentown rest stop on the NE Extension and Will isn't coming until Saturday. So Matt & Steve are left, pretty much. Don't know where the PJB guy is coming from. Of course, we could skip the Ikea meeting all together and just all touch base at the Allentown rest stop.

As of this moment, I have stang, jackhart's, steve's and kev's cell numbers (assuming your number is the same as it was on the last paragon trip, kev). We probably have Will's, Dave's, and Matt's somewhere in Steve's center console or his old cell phone, but they're not in my phone so if you want to PM them to me, that would be awesome.

How bout lucky number 33? That's what channel we typically have been on for almost every Paragon trip.

So were thinking mid-evening to meet. I'm sure we can nail a more concrete time before then.

Oh, Steve, thanks for the panythose idea. They work, but only to an extent. They just don't seem to hold the warmth as much. I'll just see what I can find.

Steve's right, it is a fairly easy drive. And once you get off Exit 145 from Highway 81 and start heading into town it's pretty much right there on your left. That and the Marriott (on the right, across the street from the Forest Hill) are pretty much the first things on that road.

Five hours ain't too bad of a drive either - I've driven longer by myself. Of course, at the last leg of the trip, I felt like I was going insane.

I'll be ready after I get the front d/s back on tonight. Kinda glad I found the u-joint before hand, there was nothing but dust inside the caps. If anyone gets there tonight and realizes they forgot something, call me.

I want to leave work now and fix my truck :banghead

All ready!!! Just waiting on my ride.

I left work at noon 'cause I had a killer headache. Had to come home and nap so that it would go away before we left. Also had to do my dishes! Can't imagine what would be living in the apt if I left them over the weekend.

See ya'll tongiht.

Lucky you, I still have two hours left at work. I haven't gotten a damn thing done today.

There is ALOT OF Shaft play. They are really a great company to deal with. My Blower is OUT of Warrenty and they said No Problem. send it back they will send me out a Reconed one the same day!!! I was like HOLLY SHIT. When is the Next Trail ride going on? John
