drexelsteve 11-30-2003, 11:23 AM Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow:D Got my motorswap pretty much completted so if figure its time to start plannin a winter run. Any takers? Recommendations on date? Accessory Man 11-30-2003, 02:03 PM Snow + Paragon = :wacko But that's why we love you Steve. I might be game without the snow part, I haven't put a dime into the bronco except to change a bad headlight in 2 monthes so I am jonesing to do something soon. How about 12/25?? good date? gators0204 11-30-2003, 02:08 PM I'll go, but not in the snow. I do need tow hooks first though. drexelsteve 11-30-2003, 02:09 PM :stupid thats the day i sit on my ass n play video games 18hrs strait in my underoo's. I figure the snow'd make it interesting to say the least. Snow or not, i'm just buggin to head back up there n break some parts with my new bigblock. Maybe middle of january:shrug Accessory Man 11-30-2003, 02:11 PM At least when we go through the Mud I wont have that pesky overheating problem in January. I don't do anything on 12/25, adn I know I wont have to work so I figured I would toss it out there. If we get snow, we should just go for a trailride together around Bristol, or Bensalem before the plows come and ruin all the fun gators0204 11-30-2003, 02:14 PM I have a ski trip mid-jan. I would have to wait till feb, due to work not letting have off two weekend days in a row. I need some new tires, a rim, and an inspection for my 90. The oil pressure is alittle low too, but other than that its sitting, ready to wheel. gators0204 11-30-2003, 02:15 PM Originally posted by Accessory Man If we get snow, we should just go for a trailride together around Bristol, or Bensalem before the plows come and ruin all the fun i was thinking the same thing. Accessory Man 11-30-2003, 03:06 PM I like going to the area strip clubs when it snows, making sure the girls have a ride home, or a nice warm wet place to stay if their home is to far away. :D drexelsteve 11-30-2003, 03:19 PM u guys are awful talkative today, where have ya been for the past 6months:goodfinge anyway, i would like everybody to be able to come, not just me kristy will his dad n kev.:D gators0204 11-30-2003, 05:17 PM I definatley will make it this time unless my trucks blow up, or get stolen:toothless I just wanna put some tow hooks on them just in case. I'm at work right now till 8, so Im bored cause nothing is really going on. Thats why Im so talkative:goodfinge gators0204 11-30-2003, 05:19 PM Originally posted by Accessory Man I like going to the area strip clubs when it snows, making sure the girls have a ride home, or a nice warm wet place to stay if their home is to far away. :D I think you want the warm wet place to stay:D Leonard 11-30-2003, 05:48 PM i'm always game for a ride as long as my as my money wants to play to. as for snow we could probabaly have a shit load of fun in that play area thing back behind the second staging ground. gators0204 11-30-2003, 06:37 PM Thats if it snows when we go anyway. I would probably only stay on flat ground anyway. Visions of sliding offf that dirt bridge comes to mind. None of us have lockers anyway, right:shrug drexelsteve 11-30-2003, 07:03 PM by then hopefully:D SuperDave 11-30-2003, 09:49 PM I want to go this time. Hopefully I'll have my SAS done by then bnkrtstk 12-01-2003, 10:49 AM Sounds good to me, as much as I'd like to go 12/25 I think the wife would shoot me. It looks like we're going to Disneyworld in January, so January is up in the air until we get the date confirmed. Where can we legally wheel in Bristol or Bensalem? gators0204 12-01-2003, 03:47 PM on the streets before they plow them:D then its to the mall parking lots bnkrtstk 12-01-2003, 03:56 PM Mall parking lots? That's funny, watch the "Neshaminy Mall Security" force chase you in a 2wd S-10. That's cruel, but funny. gators0204 12-01-2003, 04:13 PM I think they have liberty's now:shrug I go to the Franklin Mills Mall for that, there security won't bother you. reptillikus 12-01-2003, 06:35 PM I could be down for a trip!:D i really havent decided if i want to run paragon this winter. I would love to go there in the snow, but im really just not sure if i should. Plus, i doubt id be able to do a trip there till after new years anyway. Im really not sure what im gonna do at this point. i wanna go wheeling, but at the same time, it looks like i need to do my rear-main seal now, and that takes priority. And working on a muddy truck sucks. Its a moral dilemna ive been fighting for the last week or so!:toothless Accessory Man 12-01-2003, 10:41 PM Is paragon even open in the snow?? I know Franklin mills Parking lot is open in the snow:D reptillikus 12-01-2003, 10:50 PM Depending on the amount of snow they will close certain trails, but unless theres so much snow you cant get into the park, theyre open! I missed a great opportunity last winter to go on a snow run, too :cry i hear Green trails can turn into Blue trails if theres enough snow :D :D I for one would certainly not want to run trails any worse than Rock Swamp when there's snow on the ground, thats gotta get pretty ugly! Leonard 12-01-2003, 11:53 PM it would be interesting to say the least. drexelsteve 12-02-2003, 12:12 AM thats why i wanna go, when the green's turn to blue's. i wanna be the first one to tear up the fresh powder:thumbup Kallure 12-02-2003, 12:17 PM Originally posted by drexelsteve :stupid thats the day i sit on my ass n play video games 18hrs strait in my underoo's. :histerica :histerica :histerica Aside from everything else, I can't believe you said underoo's ..... i don't know why that's so funny, but for some reason, i think the laugh i'd get from seeing that would last me about a week ..... Otherwise, I think after the New Year would be a good idea anyway. We can begin recovering from Xmas and the weather may be a bit more like winter. This will give everyone a chance to tune up or did any projects they need to get done before the run. Does anybody else get three-day weekends in January (MLK Day) and February (President's Day)? Those would be ideal! gators0204 12-02-2003, 12:27 PM Fixed it for ya Kallure:thumbup bnkrtstk 12-02-2003, 12:49 PM After the new year would be better for me, after January would be even better. It looks like we're going to Disneywolrd in January not Februrary. We just have to wait for confirmation on the dates, first choice was 1/15-1/19. gators0204 12-02-2003, 05:57 PM I agree with Bnk, after Jan would be better for me also. So can we all agree on Feb? Kallure 12-02-2003, 08:55 PM Thanks for fixing that post, Gators! I agree on February - give me time to recover from Christmas. Santa is collecting welfare as it this year! :D drexelsteve 12-02-2003, 09:18 PM ok, sometime in feb. But we're gonna have to get together sometime before then to at least :beer Kallure 12-02-2003, 09:34 PM i was actually thinking earlier today that we could do a pseudo-xmas party somewhere around here - you know all the stuff that makes the season - beer, chicken wings and boobies - 'cause i was thinking hooters or something. we could just chill and hang out without worrying about trees falling or parts breaking!!! :toothless reptillikus 12-02-2003, 09:48 PM Originally posted by Kallure we could just chill and hang out without worrying about parts breaking!!! :toothless Ahh, to live the dream! :toothless Maybe ill get together with ya'll to chill sometime soon, but i got other problems i *should* attend to before i go out on a big wheelin trip again. Im down for a ride in feb, though. gators0204 12-02-2003, 11:04 PM chillin with you guys and drinkin beers sounds good to me. Leonard 12-03-2003, 10:05 PM BEER GOOD, WINGS GOOD, BOOBIES even better. yeah feb. would probably be the best seeing as how xmas is gonna break the bank this year. btw christy i think seeing steve in his "underoos" would give me nightmares. gators0204 12-03-2003, 10:10 PM Originally posted by Leonard i think seeing steve in his "underoos" would give me nightmares. I think it would be funny, you should wheel like that:lolup Accessory Man 12-04-2003, 12:07 AM I don't know about that, but I wouldnt mind seeing Kallure in underoos. Wheeling or otherwise. drexelsteve 12-04-2003, 12:18 AM been there, done that:thumbup gators0204 12-04-2003, 12:18 AM you need to go to a chinese massage parlor:goodfinge remind never to take my girl wheelin with me:uhoh3 Kallure 12-04-2003, 03:47 PM Originally posted by drexelsteve been there, done that:thumbup pfffffft, not lately! :D bnkrtstk 12-04-2003, 04:20 PM Originally posted by Kallure pfffffft, not lately! :D That's not what you said at my house when we did the engine swap.:D Kallure 12-04-2003, 04:27 PM Originally posted by bnkrtstk That's not what you said at my house when we did the engine swap.:D That was over a week ago -- last I checked, that wasn't "lately" :histerica bnkrtstk 12-04-2003, 04:28 PM Originally posted by Kallure That was over a week ago -- last I checked, that wasn't "lately" :histerica It is when you're old and married!:toothless Kallure 12-12-2003, 02:42 PM So are we still doing the Beer-Boobies-and-Wings night?? :-) I was going to suggest that our next trip be over the weekend of Feb 14 & 15 because those of us who are lucky should have President's Day off on Monday. But Valentine's Day is also that weekend and I don't know how many girlfriends/wives would be cool with a trip then. I wouldn't mind - Steve would get off easy. LOL Nothing says I love you like the growl of an engine and a mud pit. bnkrtstk 12-12-2003, 03:12 PM Sounds good to me, I'm not off President's Day, but that's no big deal. reptillikus 12-12-2003, 06:36 PM I dunno if i have Presidents day off, but i could always just request it off. Ill have to see if i can get my g/f to go this time. If so, im in. Otherwise, ill never hear the end of it. Leonard 12-12-2003, 09:58 PM haha i don't have to worry about that, sometimes its good to be single. a beer wings and boobies night sounds good may have to be after the holiday though for me at least. drexelsteve 12-13-2003, 01:20 AM I dunno if i have Presidents day off, but i could always just request it off. Ill have to see if i can get my g/f to go this time. If so, im in. Otherwise, ill never hear the end of it. girlfriend?since when? reptillikus 12-13-2003, 09:24 AM girlfriend?since when? Um, almost 5 years ago? :thumbup drexelsteve 12-13-2003, 04:58 PM i had no idea. Then again u probably told me a few times but i'm a little goofy :thumbup drexelsteve 12-16-2003, 11:25 PM so can we set a date or what. can't wait to make u guys look bad :goodfinge bnkrtstk 12-17-2003, 10:30 AM so can we set a date or what. can't wait to make u guys look bad :goodfinge I can do that all on my own. :thumbup drexelsteve 12-17-2003, 02:37 PM :thumbup gators0204 12-17-2003, 03:31 PM I can do that all on my own. :thumbup so can i :toothless end of feb, 21-22 or 28-29 :shrug drexelsteve 12-17-2003, 11:29 PM i like feb 21-22 :shrug Leonard 12-18-2003, 12:39 AM that works, staying at a cheap motel this time or we gonna see if red ridge is open?? Kallure 12-18-2003, 12:49 AM that works, staying at a cheap motel this time or we gonna see if red ridge is open?? i like that weekend too - and i definitely like a cheap motel or red ridge, depending on if it's open and how cold it is. but one of you has to sneak into the marriott and steal that mattress for me!!! :toothless that's the least they could do after all the shit that happened ..... of course, the ground is just fine too oh, the marriott did end up refunding me my money, so that makes things better. if i have $200 bucks laying around one time when we go up there, i wouldn't mind staying there again - i'd just pay cash this time. drexelsteve 12-18-2003, 01:10 AM oh, the marriott did end up refunding me my money, so that makes things better. did they? thats awsome. Unless anyone has any objections...feb 21-22 it is :thumbup thats roughly 2 months to get ready. anybody got any mods planned? i plan on mini-spools front n rear and 35's by then :thumbup bnkrtstk 12-18-2003, 10:17 AM That date is fimne with me. Doesn't matter where we stay. If it's Red Ridge I'm bringing a 31 foot camper trailer. Wifey won't camp in the winter. Besides I like a hot clean shower after wheeling. The Ramada in Hazleton was reasonable. I'll have a l/s rear in by then, and possibly, I might even spool the pumpkin I'm taking out and switch as needed. Kallure 12-18-2003, 01:11 PM did they? thats awsome. Well, they didn't refund all the money for the stay but they sent me a letter of apology/explanation and the fees for the bounced checks caused by their mistake. Red Ridge doesn't open until May, it looks like. There's another campground listed on Paragon's site but it doesn't open until March, I think. While the Fairfield was nice, it was a little too pricey for the budget. I think if we stuck with the Ramada or one of the "motels" and not hotels listed on Paragon's site we'd be okay. Of course, Steve could always bring his camper and we can park it in a grocery store lot and all pile in there!! :toothless bnkrtstk 12-18-2003, 01:18 PM Of course, Steve could always bring his camper and we can park it in a grocery store lot and all pile in there!! :toothless All I know is I get the queen sized bed, and the kids each get one of the 4 bunks in the back, that leave two bunks and "couch" for the rest of you to fight over. Kallure 12-18-2003, 03:26 PM All I know is I get the queen sized bed, and the kids each get one of the 4 bunks in the back, that leave two bunks and "couch" for the rest of you to fight over. I call a bunk!!! Actually, I really don't care where I sleep as long as it's clean - thus ruling out the back of my Steve's truck Leonard 12-18-2003, 04:09 PM wherever we stay all i have to say is let it be cheap ah worse comes to worse i'll throw the back seat back in it pretty comfortable, as far as truck work hopefully, crossing all fingers and toes and whatever else will cross, my engine, um a 9" out back with 3.50;s and a set of 3.55's in the front, thats about it unless i can get my dad to buyild me a set of sliders at his work. bnkrtstk 12-18-2003, 04:23 PM Since most rooms have two beds, why don't you guys double up on a room. Steve and Kristy, just hang the ' Do Not Disturb' sign up for a few minutes :toothless . Or make will hold the camera :goodfinge reptillikus 12-18-2003, 09:46 PM I usually stay at the Fairfield Inn, its the same exit as the Mariott. If you tell em youll be at paragon, its like 45 bucks. 2 months? i guess that give me time to do the 460, 1ton swap, 44s, 5.37s and dual lockers :goodfinge Actually, i dont think theres anything i need to do to prepare for the trip. Other than keep the truck running, that is :p This winter/spring has already been allocated for Project:Zuk. Once thats done, the bronco goes under the knife again. My next set of tires will not be smaller than 38" :D reptillikus 12-18-2003, 09:49 PM as far as truck work hopefully, crossing all fingers and toes and whatever else will cross, my engine, um a 9" out back with 3.50;s and a set of 3.55's in the front, thats about it unless i can get my dad to buyild me a set of sliders at his work. Just make a set of ghetto-sliders like i did :toothless Of course, i have no idea how they work, as last time the rocks werent big enough for me to hit them :goodfinge Accessory Man 12-18-2003, 10:30 PM Since most rooms have two beds, why don't you guys double up on a room. Steve and Kristy, just hang the ' Do Not Disturb' sign up for a few minutes :toothless . Or make will hold the camera :goodfinge A few minutes?? How many time do you want the poor guy to do it a dozen???? BTW back of my truck is always clean, and warm :toothless drexelsteve 12-19-2003, 12:38 AM A few minutes?? How many time do you want the poor guy to do it a dozen???? BTW back of my truck is always clean, and warm :toothless :lolup i swear is that all u think about??? so will u be attending this time? Accessory Man 12-19-2003, 11:44 AM :lolup i swear is that all u think about??? so will u be attending this time? I'm not exactly a bronco guy - but my 85 F150 is similar enough. I wanted to share this with you - It was posted today on the Yahoo board of a local Jeep club I've been looking into. It just may be pertinant information! "Hi Everyone, Just wanted to pass the word along that Paragon is closing for the season due to the weather. We are open by appointment only for groups and we will gladly open for clubs to have rides or come and play. Please send us an e-mail or give us a call if you want to come up. Please keep in mind, we are by appointment only, so if you make a reservation, please remember that we are opening the park for you or your club. If you need to cancel, please do so as soon as possible. Please pass this information on to your club or anyone you feel would like to visit the park during the winter season. We wish you all the best of the holiday season." Accessory Man 12-20-2003, 03:33 AM You better! That goes for you too, Gators! I havent gone 'wheelin with either of you yet. I have seen you wheel............. You're NUTZ. I love it by the way, but mine is my daily driver, my only vehicle, and the love of my life (If I could fit it in my bed I would be arrested for sure) So I like to stick to the easy stuff Leonard 12-20-2003, 07:27 PM just find a dark spot in the ally matt, thanks for the info doug i'll look in to it to find out whats going on. reptillikus 12-20-2003, 07:59 PM First off ... hello everyone - I'm Doug ... just found my way over here today, from the board at Offroad.com. A dark ally is fine for a woman, my Bronco is special, it deserves the honeymoon sweet! reptillikus 12-21-2003, 12:58 AM I have seen you wheel............. You're NUTZ.Why does everyone keep saying that? :toothless mine is my daily driver, my only vehicle, and the love of my life (If I could fit it in my bed I would be arrested for sure) So I like to stick to the easy stuff You just described the exact same situation with my bronco :D gators0204 12-21-2003, 07:42 AM you guys are sick drexelsteve 12-21-2003, 12:58 PM Why does everyone keep saying that? i remember the first time i saw u wheelin when u hit that hill full throttle n blew out that tire. wish i had that on video. remember somebody sayin "if u don't hit that big one on the right you'll be ok" :histerica Accessory Man 12-21-2003, 02:24 PM I might of said that, BUT I was more impressed at the fact that he and his boys had the spare on in less time then it took the air to come out of the other tire. The man has a pit crew! :thumbupLol, i dunno about pit crew, but its always easier when you have a whole crew of people you already know when youre out on the trail :thumbup there were numerous times on the last paragon trip where i had to pick up his photographer cause he got "left behind" :toothless rep, your brother took some pretty dam good pic's though :thumbup My bro spent half the time w/ me, and the other half of the time in the green zuk. he didnt care, he was havin a blast just bein out there :thumbup drexelsteve 12-21-2003, 10:31 PM and thats all that matters right :thumbup so i guess we're gonna need a headcount so we can make a reservation. :shrug bnkrtstk 12-22-2003, 09:14 AM Hey Rep, from the sounds of it I'm gonna have a blast wheeling with you. :thumbup reptillikus 12-22-2003, 10:43 PM Hey Rep, from the sounds of it I'm gonna have a blast wheeling with you. :thumbup Lets just say......Its always an adventure :toothless Actually, this trip should be interesting, cuz yesterday i convinced my g/f to go, and she's never been to Paragon before. Sooo, if you hear any screams while im driving, just ignore em :toothless Steve, yeah, we'll need a headcount, but i sure we wont need a def. # till we get closer to Feb. But thus far we have........ (driving) Me drexelsteve bnkrtstk leonard (& father?) accessory man gators (?) Any particular trails anyone wants to run this weekend? As usual, ill run anything from Green1 to Black1 :D i vote for Muddy Pipeline, i still havent been able to run it yet, and it sounds cool. other than that....um....uh.....i dunno. Anything cool :D drexelsteve 12-22-2003, 10:54 PM rockswamp, puddle of mud, cherokee ridge, still haven't done muddy pipeline yet either. may have another truck coming too, a guy from work thinks he can wheel. :thumbup reptillikus 12-22-2003, 11:23 PM Oooh, I ran Trail25 (un-named) that sunday when we all got split up. It was cool. A little harder than i remembered, but still a sweet trail. There was a really badass trail i ran that day (twice actualy, since we made a wrong turn :toothless), im tryin to remember the name of it. it was twisty and muddy, and, well, cool :thumbup EDIT: it was Lucky Trail. Its conveniently located near Muddy Pipeline :D Kallure 12-23-2003, 12:11 AM Actually, this trip should be interesting, cuz yesterday i convinced my g/f to go, and she's never been to Paragon before. Woohoo, another girl!!!!!! :rockon Leonard 12-23-2003, 12:15 AM def. wanna hit muddy pipeline, never got down there last trip, anything else sounds fair game, 80% sure my dads gonna come along. right now gotta fix my truck feltlike the wheel was gonna fall off today. Accessory Man 12-23-2003, 01:01 AM Woohoo, another girl!!!!!! :rockon I can bring lots of girls just have to pay them by the hour :thumbup gators0204 12-23-2003, 03:54 AM I can bring lots of girls just have to pay them by the hour :thumbup :hump Yea, Im in. I'll to get my buddy to go again. Don't know if I wanna roll on the crazy trails that you guys are talking about unless I can get my 90 inspected in time. I dont mind the scratches, just don't want dents :brownbag Leonard 12-23-2003, 11:45 AM they add character, besides none of the trails mentioned so far are really all that bad pretty easy. Kallure 12-23-2003, 12:02 PM Don't know if I wanna roll on the crazy trails that you guys are talking about unless I can get my 90 inspected in time. I dont mind the scratches, just don't want dents :brownbag the only place you gotta worry about dents is probably cherokee ridge simply because it's awful tight. but i think there was one time we went down it with nothing but a slight "reshaping" of part of the grill above the headlight because we slid down the hill and into a tree!!!!!!!! of course, since i'm just riding, i don't care where we go. no crazy pay by the hour girls though - they're not in the budget bnkrtstk 12-23-2003, 12:05 PM Muddy pipeline? Use that in a sentence. I realized it was a gay bar when someone asked me if they could run the muddy pipeline, and there was no truck in sight. gators0204 12-23-2003, 01:34 PM Muddy pipeline? Not too shabby! :thumbup Everyone needs to confirm if theyre definitely going or not (coughacessorymancough) so i can get in touch with kyle and get him to open the park for us. Have we decided where we're gonna stay yet? jackhart 12-30-2003, 10:47 AM hey guys, i am interested in this trip, but as i've never really wheeled before, and my truck is fairly stock, i am just afraid i would hold you guys back. i also have a buddy with a slightly lifted f150 who says he might be interested also, but didn't know if this is just a FSB thing. let me know what you think. we would be coming from long island. bnkrtstk 12-30-2003, 11:35 AM Jackhart, my truck is mostly stock too, but it's not my DD. As far as your buddy with the F-150, bring him. drexelsteve 12-30-2003, 01:29 PM the more the merrier. It'll be some easy wheelin, hopefully we'll have some snow on the ground to make it more interesting. I wouldn't worry, a lot of these guys are running stock or close to stock so they don't wanna fubar their rigs either. me, i'm running 100% stock. hope to see ya there :thumbup Kallure 12-30-2003, 02:11 PM we always seem to pick up spare people everytime we go so i don't see what makes this ride any different. the more people, the bigger of a party. i'll be along to make the movie because some very special person got me a digital camcorder for christmas ..... now we'll have real time footage of our trip! :chili: Leonard 12-30-2003, 06:08 PM me, i'm running 100% stock. yeah if you ignore the 4" lift 33's (maybe 35"s or locker if you ever make up your mind) the 460 swap, yeah completely stock. reptillikus 12-30-2003, 07:53 PM yeah if you ignore the 4" lift 33's (maybe 35"s or locker if you ever make up your mind) the 460 swap, yeah completely stock.lol, i was thinking the same thing! I had a stock 99 f150 out with me on my very first trip to paragon, and he did ok. Im a better spotter now, too :toothless And Will's dad (sorry, i cant remember his name now) did awesome out there in his stock f250. Yank your swaybars (if only for the trail ride), and youll have no problem. If youre willing to wheel with us, then we're willing to get ya through the park! Me and drexel probably have the most modified trucks, everyone else is close to stock, so dont worry about holding us back much. And im sure everyone will agree that doing trail repairs in the freezing cold aint fun, so sticking to easier stuff is perfectly fine with me! Besides, id like to be able to go to the park, 'wheel, and then leave without breaking anything for once! :toothless we always seem to pick up spare people everytime we go so i don't see what makes this ride any different. the more people, the bigger of a party. i'll be along to make the movie because some very special person got me a digital camcorder for christmas ..... now we'll have real time footage of our trip! :chili: ooOOooh.......video!!!!! Now my stupidity on the trails can be captured on film for all to-- wait a minute!!! :p But seriously....thats awesome! We have this antiquated video camera that uses those half-hour long mini-tapes, but it doesnt even shoot in color anymore. Its kinda sad, its like its going blind! new list: Me drexelsteve bnkrtstk leonard (& father) accessory man gators jackhart +1 9 trucks :rockon bnkrtstk 12-31-2003, 09:09 AM You guys beat me to it. Yeah Steve your truck is stock :wacko Maybe 10 trucks a buddy wants to come with his 77 Bronco. I agree with the trail repairs in the cold theory, but I'm still bringing a spare starter and alternator. Video is awesome, I have a few videos of past wheeling trips, I watch them when I get the wheeling itch and can't get out to go. jackhart 12-31-2003, 11:14 AM this is excellent. i'm really looking forward to it. ok, now for some quick questions...can you confirm the exact dates again? what about the hotel, did you decide on somewhere yet? since this is my first off road adventure, maybe you guys can also make me a "short list" of basic items to buy/bring for the trail...i know you probably have stuff just in case, but i would like to be prepared myself, to the extent that i can afford to, at least. maybe along the lines of "must have" items and then on to "would be nice to have..." as far as sway bars go, do i need quick disconnects? also i was planning on getting a portable air compressor (santa somehow forgot that...), maybe i should just go ahead and get that now?? you think it will be a problem that i don't have d rings or other means for fastening a tow strap yet? my new bumper/winch mount is being fabbed with them right now but probably won't be ready by our trip. nor will my winch. :cry thanks for the advice. bnkrtstk 12-31-2003, 11:42 AM You need at least one recovery point, do you have a rear receiver? Go get a tow hook (or two) and bolt it to the frame, they are only $10 or so at Walmart or Pep Boys. Drill the holes and you're done. A full size spare tire is a must, Paragon won't let you wheel w/o one. Basic hand tools, if you're truck has any normal quirks, bring what you would need to fix it, hence my spare alternator and starter.A good recovery strap, extra fluids, WARM clothes. CB. That's all I can think of for now....anyone else? Kallure 12-31-2003, 11:52 AM ooOOooh.......video!!!!! Now my stupidity on the trails can be captured on film for all to-- wait a minute!!! :p But seriously....thats awesome! We have this antiquated video camera that uses those half-hour long mini-tapes, but it doesnt even shoot in color anymore. Its kinda sad, its like its going blind! that's what'll make it fun - there are tons of things we'd wish we had a video for *cough* will's gas tank *cough* kev's flat tire climbing that hil *cough* just to mention a few. this camera, though, has all sorts of gizmos and gadgets including nightvision (for the partying going on after we leave the park! :toothless ), 10x optical - 120x digital zoom, touch panel LCD, ability to record in .mpg format right onto the memory stick as well as all sorts of fancy filming and shot modes and it takes still pictures as well. Santa Steve was very good to me this year! :santa Jackhart, as far as stuff you need - Check out Paragon's website, specifically these pages: Self-Guided Trail Rides Guidelines (http://www.paragonap.com/adventure_selfguided.htm) Park Guidelines (http://www.paragonap.com/explore_rules.htm) That'll give you a good basis at to what the park requires that you have and what you generally need. As far as everything else goes, general lessons say that spare parts are always good. Definitely a CB or handheld. Battery tie down is required in Paragon. Other truck/parts suggestions can be left up to these boys who know a little more than I do. General trip stuff: quarters to air back up! :toothless, warm clothes but nothing too absorbent in case there's mud and water to play in, beer :thumbup or, we hit the local beer distributor when we get there. Hotel? Hmm, we should probably decide. I like the Fairfield, but I don't have the 200 bucks to shell out again. Something fairly reasonable, even on the cheaper side. Paragon has a list of "motels" - anybody know anything about one or two of them? reptillikus 12-31-2003, 03:38 PM this is excellent. i'm really looking forward to it. ok, now for some quick questions...can you confirm the exact dates again? what about the hotel, did you decide on somewhere yet? Feb 21-22. We usually head out there the night before (so the the 20th) so ya dont have to drive a couple hours to sit in the truck and 'wheel all day. since this is my first off road adventure, maybe you guys can also make me a "short list" of basic items to buy/bring for the trail... you need at least one recovery point to get into the park. Trailer hitch is fine for the rear. i would recommend adding hooks to the front if your truck, ive used mine several times since theyve been installed, either to pull myself out, or others. fullsize spare (within 2" of tires on truck) is an absolute requirement. CB's are awesome, i think everyone should have one in their truck, even if it doesnt go offroad. :toothless I carry a spare alt. with me, and have a spare starter ill probably bring as well. I recommend carrying spare ujoints atleast for the rear axle, as it would suck to break one and have to drive off the trail and outta the park in FWD. Between all of us, we have planty of snatch straps, hilifts, and even a winch, so thats covered, but having an extra strap never hurts. Paragon requires you carry a garbage bag with you to remove garbage of course, but also any contaminated soil (ie. dirt you spilled oil on). We dont want these guys to get hit w/ a big fine by the EPA! you dont have to remove your swaybars if ya dont want to, but it will help keep your tires on the ground when climbin over the rocks. Theyre fairly simple to remove (6 bolts up front, 2 bolts + 2 ubolts in the rear), so we could probably pull them in Paragon's lot if need be. No one makes a quick-disconnect kit for them. General trip stuff: quarters to air back up! :toothless Yeah! youll need a few bucks in quarters, unless you wanna ride down the freeway with only like 18lbs of air in your tires :toothless Bring a tire gauge if ya wanna air-down, itll take all day if we all have to share one or two. Hotel? Hmm, we should probably decide. I like the Fairfield, but I don't have the 200 bucks to shell out again. Something fairly reasonable, even on the cheaper side. Paragon has a list of "motels" - anybody know anything about one or two of them? Ive stayed at the Forrest Hill Inn two or three times. Two beds, a tv, and a bathroom. it simple, but i think its only like $40/night if ya tell em youre gonna be @ Paragon. Oh, and free coffee/donuts in the office in the a.m. for all you caffeine addicts :D Kallure 12-31-2003, 05:09 PM Ive stayed at the Forrest Hill Inn two or three times. Are we all gonna try and gather in the same hotel/motel like last time? That'd be cool. Do we have a definite confirmation from everyone who's coming? Do we need a certain number to get them to open the park? reptillikus 12-31-2003, 05:30 PM Nah, the place is actually pretty nice. If everyone wants to stay there ill see if i can put a bunch on hold, so that we can all get rooms nearby.....makes it easier to get back to your room while drunk if youre staying nextdoor :toothless Well, we only need 3 trucks to roam the park, so..... Well, actually, i dunno about that, but 9 is definitely more than enough. if everyone is certain they can go (theyll want a head count when i contact them), ill get in touch and set it up with them later this week/weekend. bnkrtstk 01-01-2004, 08:38 PM 3 more possibles from PJB, 2 79's and an F-150. :thumbup bnkrtstk 01-01-2004, 08:39 PM Nah, the place is actually pretty nice. I'm probably gonna look into the forrest hill inn/motel/closet, whatever it is, within the next few weeks or so, since there's a little extra money laying around this month. or kev, if you wanna do a group thing so we can rooms near each other, just let me know who to call like last time and we'll get it set up reptillikus 01-08-2004, 09:07 AM new list: Me drexelsteve (+1?) bnkrtstk (+1?) leonard (& father) accessory man gators (+?) jackhart +1 3? from PJB? ? from Twisted Wheelers? Thats alot of trucks! So were lookin at atleast 10, maybe more if everyone shows. Any confirmations from PJB & TW? Forrest Hill Inn is cool with me. Its cheap and clean. if we get a def#, then we can probably call and hold a bunch of close-by rooms for a few days, and just get everyone to call in and reserve one of em. This way we're all our rooms are close by, but no one has to front cash for like 10 rooms. So id say we need to set a RSVP date so we can get the hotel/motel situation sorted out. Once we get a definite #, i can get in touch with Kyle and get the park opened up for us. gators0204 01-08-2004, 12:17 PM Great, bring the cops along! Maybe we could set an RSVP date for the 25th of January. That'd give those who are still up in the air about going about 2 1/2 weeks to decide. And then we'd have a month's notice to give both to the hotel and Paragon. jackhart 01-09-2004, 03:17 AM Hey guys, my buddy with the F150 advised that although he is coming, he isn't bringing his truck, due to technical difficulties, something about having lost his gas tank... He'll just ride with me, I guess. As for me, I'm trying to have an Aussie locker (up front) put in before the trip. So far I've both emailed Torqmasters and called to place an order, but I haven't heard back from them in a couple of days, if you can believe that. Business must be good. I also installed dual optimas, but I was gonna do that anyway, not just for this trip. :thumbup Haven't gotten around to tow hooks yet, will work on that probably this weekend. reptillikus 01-09-2004, 08:58 AM Maybe we could set an RSVP date for the 25th of January. Kallure 01-27-2004, 05:13 PM The Forest Hill is right across the street from the Marriott, if I remember clearly. So we'll have to figure that out -- but anyway, it's past the 25th. Do we have a final list ready so we can start making our plans and phone calls? Leonard 01-27-2004, 09:15 PM was gonna ask if anybody made arrangments at ether the hampton or forest hill, i prefer the cheaper of the two myself but i'll go with the majority. actually may only be able to do sunday, starting a new job on monday and i have to work every other sat. but i should be able to arrang it so i'm off, just need a weekend to stay above freezing so i can get some work done getting tired of losing my fingers. reptillikus 01-27-2004, 10:30 PM 'da list: Me drexelsteve (+1?) bnkrtstk (+1?) leonard accessory man gators (+?) jackhart stangmata 3? from PJB?? ? from Twisted Wheelers??
