View Full Version : Anyone from around the Ventura Area?
B-man 12-01-2003, 06:54 PM New guy here. I am from Simi Valley, which is in Ventura County. I have been looking for fellow Bronco owners to wheel with. My bud has a Bronco, but, he just doesn't really know what is up, if ya know what I mean.. hehhe;) He has his rig more for looks then anything else..
Anyways. this place is killer and I am glad to have found it .
RobertF 12-01-2003, 07:05 PM I'm right next door out in Chatsworth :)
Andy351 12-01-2003, 08:53 PM i am in San Luis Obispo, just a little north
B-man 12-02-2003, 02:28 AM Oh right on Robert. you are bout 10 minutes away from where I live. Where do ya go wheeling in Chatsworth?
RobertF 12-02-2003, 08:20 AM I don't go very often, my 4x4 use is mainly work related (Ya shucks, gotta use 4x4 for work...) but I really don't go because I haven't found anyone to go with (Maybe I have now :)) Also there isn't much that I've found around our area, most of it is pretty much hiking only area, you gotta go like 30mi at least either way to find anything of wheeling value...
B-man 12-03-2003, 11:42 AM Mine is my daily driver as well. I usually go to Kern River 3 or 4 times a year. It is great up there. Got our own little campsite and such. Road changes from trip to trip cause of the weather and the "geniuses" with their pretty little two wheel drives trying to get down the road, diggin it up and such. But, all in all, it is a fun trip..
Gorman and Frazier Park aren't too far away. Always some good stuff up there as well.
Bronkzilla 12-03-2003, 02:38 PM im down in Gardena.. about an hour away from Gorman..
B-man 12-03-2003, 04:41 PM Gorman is a go this weekend. Gonna mess around a bit,..
burntPiston 01-07-2004, 03:30 PM I'm in Chatsworth also.
Gorman, Frazier Park, Drinkwater Flats (closed temporarily), Miller Jeep Trail.
All less than an hour away from us.
RobertF 01-07-2004, 04:12 PM Another guy from Chatsworth? Coolness... now I gotta keep an eye out for your rig. If you see an OJ Bronco zipping around with two spotlites on the door pillars that's me :P
B-man 01-07-2004, 04:24 PM Cool,
glad we got another local. We gotta get a trip going sometime. :beer
burntPiston 01-07-2004, 04:43 PM I'm ready to hit the snow and I'd like to go to Pismo sometime. Gorman is the best around, but I've done most trails there in 2wd when I had open diffs. Even the mud (more like water) pit didn't require 4wd. It'll be more fun now with posi though.
Bronkzilla 01-07-2004, 05:02 PM did u go up the rock hill thing in the obstacle course..?
andy is like 10 minutes from pismo.. im sure hes down to go there whenever..
burntPiston 01-07-2004, 05:31 PM Yeah, I ran all of the things in the truck park. I did use low range for the rock climb.
Bronkzilla 01-07-2004, 06:45 PM Yeah, I ran all of the things in the truck park. I did use low range for the rock climb.
cool.. got any pics.. i looked through your site but couldnt find any..
burntPiston 01-07-2004, 08:46 PM No pics. Only off road pics I have are those 2 from Drinkwater and the lame one from Palm Desert. Only wheel with 1 guy that has a digicam, but I went alone to Gorman the last 2 times.
I plan to go again soon, maybe someone there will have a camera.
Bronkzilla 01-07-2004, 10:52 PM im getting close to being ready.. i have a digicam surgically attached to my hand.. gonna test the truck out in gorman.. have some annoying problems holding me back though..
B-man 01-08-2004, 12:59 AM Hey Burnt Piston,
Let me know when you are gonna roll to Gorman again.. Or anywhere else around the area. I am always up for a little run.. I haven't gotten too crazy in the Beast., but, hell, up for it. :thumbup
burntPiston 01-08-2004, 12:04 PM Bronkzilla...what do you need to test on your truck? Looks like it'll do all of Gorman with four flats the way it's set up.
Nevermind...just saw that you're the one with the new coilover setup that needs breaking in.
Want to do another one? :thumbup
Bronkzilla 01-09-2004, 02:41 AM gotta test lots of stuff out.. truck has changed alot since it broke..
gorman claimed another bronco.. that place is cursed.. ive seen it take out a tcase, 2 alternators, a starter and other stuff..
including my front pump seal and torque converter.,.

B-man 01-09-2004, 11:31 AM Damn,
Well, don't think my Bronco could make it through them rocks either without breaking some stuff..
burntPiston 01-09-2004, 11:54 AM If those were the rocks you were asking if I had driven at gorman, then no...have they been there long?
I don't remember seeing that last year. There's another rocky trail up the hill in the 4x4 area, but I don't remember it looking that gnarly...
Bronkzilla 01-09-2004, 12:57 PM this is the one next to the cement stair step hill climb thing.. it used to have some boulders here and there but november 02 when we went they had tons of boulders from top to bottom..
burntPiston 01-09-2004, 01:10 PM I definately haven't driven those rocks then, and no way I'd make it on 33's.
Zilla, when will your truck be ready? I want to see those coilovers in action.
Bronkzilla 01-09-2004, 01:21 PM Jopes on here drove right up it with no problem then i told him he was supposed to do it in reverse and he went back down and did it in reverse..
muddy4x4 01-10-2004, 07:25 PM My buddy and I are gonna be going to Pizmo soon, he might need us there to pull him out when he gets stuck (he's got a chebby) I'm in Orange county, not too far. :thumbup
