Is anybody going to do a shakedown run at uwharrie sometime before RITS? I need some motivation to get out and finish a few things on the bronco and make my half doors before RITS. For some reason I always seem to work better when I have deadline.:doh0715:
Besides, I haven't been to UNF yet this year.:banghead Dave, Jon, Mike, anybody, what do you think?:popc1:

I still have to replace my rusted and cracked shackle mounts first, so I'm doing the shackle flip and going to 6" coils and Uwharrie would be a good place to test it out.

I'm hoping to make it out there on the 16th or 17th.

Hmmm, I might be able to be talked into taking my 96 out (esp since I got a new DD). No lift but 32" Mud Terrains. I'd have to pass on the big boy trails though.

I could go Friday the 8th possibly (got the day off, yall prob gotta work).

If I wasn't still trying to get mine back on the road I'd do it. The good news though is I finally got my motor back from the machinist from hell. I've got the motor in the hole and the tranny bolted up, but pretty much everything else still needs to be done. Here's where I'm at right now:

That said, hopefully I can get this all put back together soon enough to go out to Uwharrie for a shake down run before the Superlift trip. I definitely don't want to tow it all the way to Arkansas untested.

It's only a few miles from home.:toothless ........:smilie_slap I know, I know.

Wish I could make it but I pulled plates and insurance off the 150 after our last outting. Not to mention I still haven't fixed my p/s system yet.

Well I was thinking last half of June anyway. So get off the computer and get to work already.:thumbup
The enging looks great Dave, A shakedown run near home would be a good idea before going all the way to Arkansas. Lets wait and see what happens.

Hopefully, the bronco will be back in time for at least Dave to make it up to Uwharrie before the Superlift trip. I won't be there for pics at least on the Uwharrie trip because of my surgery and the pesky no strenuous walking/hiking rule for 2-3 weeks post surgery.

so far its coming together pretty quick. i dovetailed the rear and then decided to just cut it in half right behind the front seats and stretch and tube the entire rear. so now i guess you can call it a bruggy. bronco front cab and buggy rear. im gonna try to get the 5.0 ready this week. i ordered a set of headers today. 4 core radiators were out of stock so i couldnt order one. ordered a set of stazworks wheels and im trying to find some good used 36",38",or39.5" tsl tires. i have a lot of work to do.

I got the Bronco back together and will be getting it aligned this weekend, so I'm wanting to get down there on Sat 23rd for a day trip. Any chance that will coincide with anybody else being there?

I was planning on going that weekend. The only problem is some stuff came up at work, and I wont know for sure if I'll be able to go until Monday morning.
I was thinking about camping sturday night, but not sure yet. I'll post up first thing Monday morning with a yes or no.

Well, I have surgery on Monday, so I know it will be out for me....and I don't think the bronco will be back together in time for a 06/23/07 run.....I don't think Dave is even going to be able to make superlift at the end of the month as we had originally planned since the bronco is still disassembled.

That sucks. Whats the hold up with getting the bronco back togeather? Still waiting on parts or not enough time?

It's a combination of stuff. My jackass machinist fawked up my Broncoair pulley, and he still has it trying to fix it. I really don't want to put it together with a regular pulley just to have to change it out later. That, and other projects keep getting in the way. Damn it. Hopefully I'll get most of it put back together this weekend.

One nice thing though, it's been raining off and on for the last two days so I've been in the shop rebuilding my winch. I just got it back together and it doesn't even look like the same piece of crap I used to have bolted to my bumper. I've got some ridiculously over sized plasma line I'm going to wind onto it this afternoon. It's a good thing this thing has a drum sized for 150' of cable, because the plasma line I have is 1/2" instead of the stock 5/16" size. It really makes me wonder how much line I'll be able to shoe horn onto this thing.:scratchhe I'd feel pretty goofy running around with an 8274 winch with only 50' of cable wound onto it.:doh0715:

I've got 100' of the 3/8" plasma rope on my winch. It originally held 120' of 5/16 cable. As long you get at least 100' you should be fine.

Like I said, that's the nice thing about the 8274's 150' drum. Now I need to find a place that sells a thimble and a big ass hook for this size rope. I just did my first ever splice this morning and I was surprised at how easy it was. I just spliced a loop into the raw end of the rope to prove to myself that I could do it.

I never used a thimble with mine, just made the loop and put the hook on with the pin. I know everyone says you should use a thimble, but mine has worked fine for about 6 years now.

I suppose you can't argue with success. Now that you mention it I did see one company selling plasma ropes and one of the options was a "soft eye", the others all listed one type of thimble or another. I guess a soft eye mut just be a spliced loop in the end.
