i was under the impression that if you had dual antenna's, they cancel each other out or mess up the signal. i found this kit made specifically for dual's, so wtf?

Look at the faq & tech sections..

You need co phased coax made just for the duals ...I dont really see a reason to run duals except for the look..

If tuned correctly, and far enough apart, they really do work in tandem to generate a stronger signal. But, if you're dumb and put them on top of each other with some backyard splitter, you're gonna have trouble.
Plus it's kinda a pain in the ass to tune them...

What you are referring to is a collinear broadside antenna setup. This basically allows you to receive/transmit further in front of and behind you than to the sides. In theory, you wouldn't have any signal perpendicular to your cab, but the sidelobes etc allow it anyway.
The antennas need to be separated by 1/2 wavelength and a car just isn't wide enough to successfully accomplish this.
Now if you put dual antennas on, your CB will still work, you just arn't accomplishing the goals of running a dual antenna setup.

They need to be 8' apart to be effective. Other than looks you can accomplish the same thing with a single antenna.
