View Full Version : War waged against annoying bird!!
Bronkzilla 06-03-2007, 02:58 PM For the last month or so there has been a really loud really annoying bird in my neighbors tree. I dont mind birds in the day time but this bird starts making noise at 11pm and doesnt stop till almost 5am... Its got like 6 or 7 different noises it makes over and over and over again. Sounds like one of those early 1990's car alarms. It does not stop for more than a minute at a time from 11pm to 5am.. It keeps me up and im assuming my neighbors too because on friday i looked over and my neighbor was staring at his big tree and pointing.. I asked if he was looking for "that" bird and he mumbled something and said "yes".. Last night the bird was louder than usual. I was so pissed that i was ready to get out my 308 and blow it up.. If it wasnt so illegal i would have done it.. This morning at 7am i woke up to the sound of chainsaws.. The neighbor was on a ladder chopping up the tree.. :histerica I hope it doesnt move closer to my window...

Joes93Bronco 06-03-2007, 03:08 PM Just don't ever shot pellets at it if it's on a phone, cable or power line. Sometimes the pellets miss and lodge them selves in the lines. The phone and cable companies get pissed cause it royally screws up their signals, then they goto your neighbors and ask "who was shooting at birds on the lines"???
Then they come to your house with a bill for a few grand for replacing the line.

Trust me, It'll provide hours of entertainment.
Joes93Bronco 06-03-2007, 03:27 PM Just don't shoot em on the overhead lines.
I have a similar problem with cats. They are using my yard as a litter box. There is roughly 25 of them. They are wild and live in a field behind the neighbors house. 2 of my neighbors leave food out for them although we have asked them not to and animal control has told them not to. They cross my yard along the way to their feeding grounds and poop all over the place on their way.
Cat poop is nasty. Real nasty. I have an immuno-suppresed child. She can't even go in my front yard now. Do you think the neighbors bitches give a crap? No.
I want either a very high power very accurate pellet gun or a crossbow.
I figure I can camp out in my Bronco and shoot em in the middle of the night. Get a buddy to come over, wear camo and shit, drink some beers. Just like REAL hunting.
But I WILL NOT shoot at them when they are sittin on the overhead lines!!
dsotmoon 06-03-2007, 03:30 PM sounds and kinda looks like a mockingbird, they can make/imitate a gazillion sounds, we had one last year that would "bark" at the dogs when they went out into the back yard and then dive and peck their butts when they turned their heads :wacko
Bronkzilla 06-03-2007, 03:44 PM this bird attacks crows and other birds that get near it..
the wings look similar

Bronkzilla 06-03-2007, 03:49 PM from wikipedia..
The Northern Mockingbird, in addition to being a good mimic, is also one of the loudest and most constantly vocal of birds. It often sings through the night, especially unmated males, or when the moon is full. It sings year-round except sometimes for the late-summer moulting season. Individual males have repertoires of 50 to 200 songs; females sing as well, but more quietly and less often than males. Mockingbirds usually sing the loudest in the twilight of the early morning when the sun is on the horizon.
90Beater 06-03-2007, 03:50 PM Just wait until it builds a nest. It will dive bomb people too. We have one at work that does. It's funny to watch.

I like sling shots, b/c they're pretty challenging to be accurate with.
One of the meanest things I've ever been a part of happened when we first started getting good with the sling shot.
My buddies and I were about 12-13. We'd been practicing with it for a few months, and had gotten pretty good. It was christmas day, and we were just kinda killin' time 'til are families had their big dinner.
We were out in their back yard shooting soda cans, and whatever else we could find.
In the next lot over was a huge church parking lot. A tree line separated their back yard from the parking lot.
One of the punk neighbor kids was driving his brand new RC car in the parking lot, and had no idea we were watching him.
Since we already had the sling shot out, we decided to take turns trying to hit it while he was out there driving it around.
We missed it a bunch of times, but since the marbles were wizzing by him & his little RC car so fast, he had NO idea what was going on...He never suspected a thing.
Finally my friend AJ nailed it, and the car completely desintegrated:shocked
I'll never forget the look on the kids face. Here he is playing with his new RC car, that I'm sure Santa brought him only a few hours ago, and now there's nothing left of it. He was dumbfounded, b/c there was no explanation for what he just witnessed.
Even though it was totally funny at the time, I still kinda feel bad.

96THOR 06-04-2007, 03:44 AM I'VE had the same problem with these Birds also. They have pretty much taken over the block & driven the normal birds out.
I was going nuts because I would kill one & another moves right into the last ones territory. I GOT A nice B.B. rifle at Big 5 & most importantly permission from my neighbors to blow them away!
drinkbrew 06-04-2007, 04:41 AM i had a similar problem with pigeons crapping all over my hot tub, my solution was a $30 pellet gun rifle from walmart. after i took out a few off my roof (scope was on right out of the box amazingly) they no longer came arround my hot tub. problem solved.
