Some of the current SCORE registered Class 3 participants have proposed an ammendment to the current rules. Below is the proposal as copied from C3R. I am certainly for it, because it would allow me, or anyone, to run trailing arms and coilovers, rather than leaf springs on the rear of the Bronco.
Request for Class 3 Rule Amendment
Request: Allow open primary spring selection for front and rear, regardless of how originally equipped from the manufacturer.
Purpose: Promote equality between older and newer vehicles.
Reduce maintenance costs, replacement costs, and upkeep on torsion/leaf spring, etc. type suspended vehicles.
Current Rule: Front and rear suspension must be of the same basic design and concept as originally produced and installed on the chassis to which it was mounted. This will be determined by manufacturer of chassis and the year manufactured. Suspension parts may be strengthened, reinforced, or replaced, but stock track width +/- 4” must be retained. Suspension must retain the original design and concept (A-Arm, MacPherson Strut, I-Beam, etc.) and all primary spring systems must retain the original concept (Leaf, Torison Bar, Coil, etc.) delivered the year of the chassis being used.
Proposed Rule: Front and rear suspension must retain the original design and concept (A-Arm, live axle, I-Beam, etc.) as originally produced and installed on the chassis by the manufacturer for the year the chassis was manufactured. Primary spring type open. Stock track width +/- 4” must be retained.
All other current rules will remain unchanged.
