Parts are being ordered and it appears that I'll be needing....and would really love some help, with another work party.

My steering gearbox has crapped a seal and fluid is dripping down the pitman and it has now begun some movement in the shaft. I also downloaded some information on the Saginaw PS swap, so maybe can do that at the same time.

Oh yeah, my front driveline is hitting the crossmember.....wow, just a few more things to do when you have a wheeler.

Next Friday I'm having my new Dick Cepek Mud Country 35's put on the rig....Yippeeeee!:rockon:rockon

So I was right on the driveshaft hitting the crossmember, as well as the steering box being NFG! Wow! Two for two!

Do the P/S pump change while you're at it. You'll be glad you did in a couple of months, when your factory-type rebuilt one would have crapped out.

:cry

What is the plan? Is it drivable? Just let me know what you need.

Start looking for a high pressure line now. Most of the models listed as working in the writeups did not work for me, actually none of them did. I had Napa make a line from the sag out to a compression fitting then chopped my line at the gearbox and put it in the compression link. Still holding after 4 months.

Whats the plan for the shaft?

Well it is drivable at this point and hopefully it will be smoother once I get my new tires on it Friday.

I am researching a new/rebuilt steering gearbox, just not sure which place is best to order from. I found one in the NPD and LMC catalogs. One is $229 and the other is $289.

As far as the Saginaw PS pump, I am going to want to switch it over at the same time...as well as check the frame where the gearbox is mounted to make sure it is not damaged or showing weakness.

The driveshaft....well John (Triplesix) knows what needs to be done there.

I just need to get the parts and than see about a day to get up a work party. This next time it will be Ribeye steaks.....oh wait, that is only if someone promisses to eat some of my cooking! LOL

On my 79, I bought a box from AGR and a bolt-on Sag pump from Bronco Bob at All 4 Fun Bronco's in Corvallis, Oregon. Both worked great. It was awhile ago, but I think he even got me the right hoses for bolt on. I know I didn't have to mod them at all.
