In the stock class the vehicle must remain the same "type" of suspension as came in the vehicle. I'll post a pic of our 4600 car
A solid axle must stay solid, an ifs must stay ifs, but within they type, any upgrade can be made...the Cherokee has sold Toyota axles...

|I6 Bronco||I almost voted for bacon, I really like bacon....... Anyway, I don't know if I would put a sterling in it. Super heavy axle in a relatively stock rig. 9" will do just fine in a stripped tub rig even if you beat the tar out of it. If you want the full float so if it breaks your still running convert the 9 to full float axles. You can have extra 3rd members and axle shafts on the shelf. Rebuilds due to failure are quick and painless.|

|erikshallbetter||I like the idea of an Explorer with Bronco running gear. Jeeps are for winos and nursing mothers. The RCV stuff is nice too. We built a short course Bronco with RCV shafts and they're badass if you can afford them.|

KOH stock class, talk me in or out of this idea...
Worked pits for the last couple years for friends who race in King of the Hammers and have decided i want to jump in and join the race team with my own car... my buddies XJ came in third but dnf'd due to a steering box failure.
My "wild idea" is to build a 1994 explorer with a D44 TTB (RCV birfields), 9" rear, auto tranny, atlas t-case, stripped to a shell running propane.
Now, for certain reasons a FSB would be impractical because of a 35" tire size limitation in the stock class and a 4600lb weight limitation. . Also, front travel is limited to 13" travel.
The top vehicles this year were XJ'S, ZJ'S, wranglers, but i like to go against the grain...
Since you guys are extremely experienced with TTB's, desert suspensions, do you think an explorer based TTB vehicle could be competitive against xj's and zj's
I come from a predominately rock crawling background so the "go fast" is new to me....
