round vs square headlights

My 78 has round headlights I have seen some where the 78 has square , were they changed over? some like round? some like square? whats the deal?

Thanks for another confirmation!

1978 Bronco Customs came standard with round headlights up to March of 1978; square lights were an option.
All 79 Broncos came with rect headlamps

LOL I just picked up all the parts to swap my 78 from the rectangle to the earlier round lights. I just like the look of them better, more "Old School" them the rectangle. I was going to swap on an entire grill assembly from my old 76 F250 XLT but I forgot to fill in the holes in my hood that the FORD letters mount into. I decided I didn't want

I switched mine over to square but im starting to like the round better now. I kept all the stuff thinking I might stick some non DOT off-road lights in the round bezels at some point.

Rectangular reflector has more reflective surface area than the round versions. More light output from the rectangular lamps. I've got HIDs in mine.
