trans with no fluid

I have put a new c6 transmission in the bronco about a year ago. It drives fine with no problems, but in the process of me putting the transmission in i had to cut the oil cooler line. I put a rubber hose on were i cut it at. Every once in a while the hose will come off wile i'm driving and fluid will go every were and of course the transmission will slip. This has happend to me about 8 times. I am tired of this happening, so today i am getting a all steel hose to put on. My question is how bad do you think it hurts the transmission when the fluid runs out?

guess that depends on how far you drive it, but I would imagine no distance without fluid would be a good distance...

It would depend on how fast that fluid is pouring out.

Put the new steel line on it ASAP.

If you can't get a new line right away, use a flaring tool and flare the ends of the tubes a little. The flare along with a hose clamp, will keep the hose from slipping off.

Mine has been on for three years or so now.

You are probably fine. The C6 is a stout tranny and can really take some abuse. You likely didn't do it any favors, but I wouldn't worry too much.

for the time being just run a short line between the input and output, use screw-in 90 degree elbows in the C6 that are made to accept hose and clamp the hose on to them. Then get a line bender when u can and bend up some lines. I just did mine and it wasn't that bad. A little tip, use a straightened metal hanger as a template, then bend your lines to match your template. I also used a 8 inch piece of rubber tranny line to connect the the lines from the cooler to the lines from the trans. I used a pipe cutter to score the unflared ends 3x to give the rubber hosing some traction when it is clamped on. Good Luck.

If the line is already cut you could get compresion to barb fittings and install an auxillary transmission cooler.... that would be cooler.
