Ok Pushrods landed today!!

The rods are 7.6, I felt the lash was a little too much so I added a .030 shim under each rocker.

It was a pain to do with the engine in the compartment.

Bought this fuel rail from Summit for 13bucks, going to use it for my oil gauges - the factory sensor and the aftermarket gauge.

Going to place it some wheres in this area on the right there, using a braided line with AN4 fittings to go from the engine block.

Lost some traction on the build from being sick, still not 100% but I did a few things just to get me out of the house.

Cleaned the upper intake and gave it a coat of paint, nothing fancy just to help clean it up.

Torqued the rockers down, installed the valve cover gaskets and installed the engine harness

Installed the M30001 tailpipe, decided to go new instead of reusing the rusty old one.

had to change some harness for the O2 sensors, on the 5.0 the sensor hookup for the left and right O2s are on the engine harness, on the 5.8L they are in 2 different harness. This harness controls the transmission and picks up the left 02 sensor and the rear O2.

Took me a while to figure out where the right O2 sensor hooked up to, must have picked up the battery cable a dozen times in my search till I noticed it.

Left of the picture is the hookup for the right O2 sensor, and yes to the right is the start hookup. Pretty wild isn't it?

Thanks, yes its my personal bronco, owned it since it was new, sales person said I wouldn't keep it for than a few years - guess he was wrong. I installed the hydroboost 3 or 4 years ago, its from an E450.

What a day finding a 7 dollar upper intake gasket, Drove all over town to 5 different auto parts store and 2 ford dealers before i found one at an engine rebuilders shop. Now I can get this engine together, but that'll be another day as I'm home in bad filling ill again.

I have been rebuidling my 5.8l for a couple days now. It wouldn't even qualify as a rebuild I basically just swapped out the heads, and have been cleaning the crap out of everything throughout the process. It's nice to see a quality budget build though!! Looks great!!! (I thought it odd that you didn't put on the lower intake you painted?)

IT LIVES

Spent 5 hours on it this morning and got her running!!!

Some pics but not as many as I normally take as I was in a rush to get her together.

This is where I started this morning, the upper intake was on but not tighten.

Little more progress, I used the throttle off of my old engine as I knew it worked good and needed little cleaning.

Heater hose runs differently on the 5.8 and I had to shorten one, no biggie.

We primed the engine oil with a drill, 70 PSI! wooo

Here she is out side running!!!!

Rockers and lifters didn't sound all that great when I first started her, and she started right up to, I could not have had the timing any better - lucky. One she ran for a bit she quiet right down. The roller rockers are a bit loud, kind of a sewing machine sound.

Engine does site higher with those mounts and I'll have to raise the shroud a 1/4" - kind of got it rigged with zip ties right now.

Don't worry about the first start-up clatter from the valve train. I remember thinking mine was going to fly apart when I had reassembled it with roller parts. It goes away for the most part after five to ten minutes, and progressively gets better with heat cycling and running the engine faster.

Roller rockers, however, will always have that click-clack sewing machine sound.

Thanks for the reassurance, was back in there tonight and moved her to another bay with a drive on hoist. Engine is idling very good, I'm very happy with it thus far.

Things left to do:

-Hanger for the tail pipe
-Install the hood
-Check for exhaust leaks - collectors might need to be snugged up
-Clean carpet and install
-Install the seats
-recheck all bolts
-Wire tie wire harness
-Install gauges (mech oil)

Thanks bud, its been a long build with lots of hurdles and surprises, but I learned a lot and ended up with what I think will be a great engine.

I can now drive her - haven't yet but I can.

Interior is back together

Hangers are completed on the exhaust

Still need to make a bracket for the shroud
Hook up the mech oil gauge

Heres a video audio of the exhaust, not sure why the audio fads in and out.
