Thanks and TTY 2morrow.

thank you so much for the info. I will dig into it in the am. I already have fluid. I am carefull to check such things as I play hard, so I keep such stuff on hand. I will inspect, repair as needed, and get back to you tomorrow with results, questions (with pics if I feel necessary) and mabey good news if it is just the rear end. ( I have 2 more that I think are matches. I will have to check gear ratios.) Hopefully will know more tomorrow.

PS. I checked all the fuses today. I was hopeing that was the problem. I had started back from the beginning hopeing to retrace and find somthing I may have missed the first hundred times I have gone over it.

If your speedo just stopped working I'd be inclined to think that its a wiring issue. but it won't hurt to check the tone ring. You can either pull the diff cover or just put the axle on jackstands and while spinning the tires look through the hole where the VSS sensor goes.

not sure what you mean here. This would not cause you to buy a new axle, just pull the carrier to put a new toner ring on, if that is the issue, $10 part. Like justin says, unless the toner is toast for some reason, it would likely send an irregular signal causing speedo skip. The sensor distance could very well just cause it to stop sending a signal.

No, No, I wouldnt buy one at all. But if the gears are shot, I have two more rear ends on hand that I could pull and replace the gear. However, I didnt realize that the part was relatively inexpensive. I would rather buy and replace if needed than tear one of my other rearends apart. And It hasnt worked right in 2 years now. That is how long I let it sit as opposed to letting the shop put in a new unneeded tranny. LOL.. I dont remember exactly how it went but it seems to me it toke a while. Bouncing for a while, than gradually got worse until it quit. I will let you know what I find.

Ok.. so I pulled the cover on my diff. and all looks good there. not even any shavings. It was clean as a whistle and I dont see any teeth worn or bad. I pulled the sensor and checked it and it was clean and when it was in the distance looked good. I traced the wiring and all looks good. I am once again befuddled. So, a quick question for anyone. In tracing the wiring I found that there is a portion of the harness that runs over the top of the tranny and goes into something in the side of the transmission on the passenger side. The drivers side has the nuetral saftey box. What is on the passenger side? Is this another portion of the circut, somthing that could be causing problems? If anyone can answer this I would appreciate it. thanks

My word man, buy the Factory Service Manual and EVTM's... Yesterday will you? Seriously, for all the time, effort and money you have spent already you have got to snap out of it and invest in all the answers to your questions... And then when you still have problems come callin for help here. Again, buy the FSM and EVTM for your year of Bronco. Relatively cheap IMO considering the unbelievable information contained in them compared to a POS Chilton/Haynes etc.

Hey bud I had this exact same thing happen to me about a month ago, and it turned out to be a bad ABS module. It sits right behin the driver's headlight, mounted to the inner fender. The PSOM signal goes from the VSS into that module before it hits the PCM or the Speedo. Check your connections there first to see if they are corroded, possible broken wires up there, or maybe just loose.

my truck did the same exact thing. Changed speed sensor, etc, etc. The wires from the speed sensor became detached from the frame and fell on the exhaust. Check it, might be the problem.

On the passanger side of the tranny is the Solenoid Pack. But I doubt thats the cause of your problem.

I had this problem and it turned out to be the PSOM. I found a new unit on eBay with 40,000 less miles.
