Bronco Info: acquired a 91 silver anniversary

I have been debating doing this. A while back I bought some stainless diamond plate that was already cut to fit the side panels. but I am not sure if I want to swap out the 91 side panels for flat walls. Maybe I can take swap out one side and see which I like the looks of better.

I dig it

I'm in the middle of doing the same thing in my brother in law's K5 with diamond plate.

well i am going to try the plywood rear side panels, since i like the smooth look with the speakers, but im getting vinly matched for the interior. the very same vinyl they use on boat seats. i went into a store here in prince george and OH the options they have.. WOW is all i can say.. its going to be expensive, but it will look nice and be washable with a hose. this same vinyl i will be using to reupholster my seats..cant wait till spring

yea your friend is misinformed. when a speaker pushes out a (has an excursion) it alters an airwave, the larger the speaker and the lower the frequency (the difference between having a small 1 inch tweeter that responds to everything above 5k and a 12 inch subwoofer that responds to everything under 80 hz).

a blanket is not going to amplify performance coming from a subwoofer, nor create the illusion that it can play louder. if you are spending money on a speaker that will make clearer sound (that isnt muffled by a blanket) or louder sound (whos more agresive airwaves are not being diverted by an object in the way of you and the speaker) why not just stick with factory sound?

im not saying your friend is dumb somebody may have misinformed him... but dont do this its not making your system any better or anything like that

Possible he could have his info a little mixed up...but right direction though....Most drummers I've ever jammed with put pillows and blankets inside the bass drum. Now, that being said....I've also bought stuff called polly fill that used to put into sealed sub enclosures. Crutchfield recommended the stuff to me when I bought some subs a long while back. Basically, this slows down the soundwave, and also takes up usable cubic inches of air space as well. Helps deaden the sound some.

Maybe he meant inside the sub enclosure and not on top????

poly fill breaks up the flat surfaces of the inside of the speaker boxes. this makes the harshness, and sound reflection, smoother. it also absorbs a little high frequency. so the subs sound cleaner.

pretty much. you can slow down the air inside the box with some polyfill. it really does help. also, try turning the bass down. i can't stress that enough. alot of people don't realize that they're really making it worse by cranking the syb level up all the way on the deck

Nice. I just started to do something similar in my 91. My plan is to use 1/2" plywood and attach aircraft cargo rails to the panels to secure cargo in the rear. Having removed the side panel, I'm a little concerned about how sturdy the panel mounting would be though.

Why dont you just get limo tint in the rear, and something lighter in the front like 20%. Thats what I did along with an alarm, and that ran about $550. It's well worth it though when you have major $$$ tied up in your truck.

I made diamond plate covers for the rear of a Suzuki Sidekick I used to have. They were a bit noisy, but looked real nice. I also had them on hinges with a latch mechanism so I could store stuff in the fenderwells. They were much smaller than the bronco side plates, so I had the whole panel hinge up. For the bronco just rivet an aluminum case behind the diamond plate, and then cut out a cover and put it on hinges to have some storage in the fender area.

wish I had pics, but the Sidekick had a rollover issue while I was flat towing it

Thank god nobody was in it.

That should buff right out.

I like the panels, looks good. I want to make something for storage...I'll just throw it on the list of things to do.
