Bronco Info: 78ranger xlt 400.040 edelbrock int 2" lift 33"bfg C6 dana 44 np-205 9" orig. paint & int.no rust

air fuel mixture 2150

does this sound right. I used a vacuum gauge to adjust the air fuel on my 2150.The instructions said to keep turning the screws out until highest possible vacuum is achieved. If I do this I end up 5 turns out. Then it idles at 800rpm in neutral and 650 in gear.now the idle screw has to backed off all the way and when i shut off the key it will keep running for a couple seconds.
thanks for your input.

Bronco Info: pile of parts

they should roughly be 2 turns out.

you have something wrong with your carb, or you have a vacuum leak.

Mine won't even run on the idle circuit at 2.5 turns out. I think I'm closer to 5 or 6. Also, the '78 351m/400m has longer springs on the adjustment screws than other 2150s including 351w; which to my mind, seem to indicate they expected them to be farther out. Considering how well mine runs, especially at idle, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
