I was thinking it needed some bracing as well.

Those are stock leaves? I'd measure the width between the hanger bolts vs stock. Your brackets are now too far apart so you'll either need to get longer main leaves or move one of the brackets like Silent One suggested.

If you disconnect the rear of the leaf from the shackle and move the leafs up, is the bushing eye directly underneath the shackle eye or behind it?

The brackets are actually closer than they were on the frame, about 1-1/2" When you flip the shackle mount it really goofs them up, but yes I put most of the weight on it this wekeend and the shackles ended up almost verticle. You have to realize that I added two add-a-leafs to the packs, more arch make the spring length a little shorter too, plus they are just hanging there pulling down. Once it's back toegtehr and the weight is on it and the new leaves break in I think they will be fine. If not, I'll move them no big deal.

What if you swapped the rear shackles side to side?

I would out a cross member in there on your drop brackets, from top to bottom from side to side to make an X and definatley do something with that reciever, that doesn't look safe at all. Your Shackel also look like they will 2-block on the hanger when you set the weight on the springs.

Just be sure to ask for it and not take it!! We just caught 2 people stealing some short pieces of rail. They were charged with felony offenese since railroads fall under the same fed protection laws as airlines!
