reassembly

Heads done. I had them hot tanked and milled .020 then I lapped the valves in

New rings

New bumpstick (Comp Cams 268h grind)

All finished and buttoned up. Lots of work but very happy

There was a lot of sandblasting involved i that intake manifold. (it had been painted and corroded real bad)

Got the frame plating all finished up. Its getting down to doing just a bunch of welding

And got the plates cut out for the back. And welded up the 'caps' on the end of the frame tubes

Been awhile since Ive updated this. The frame is all painted and assembled. Everything is coming togather.
Axles done painted and bolted up, shocks are on, springs cleaned and painted.

Also tore apart the C4 tonight. Big thanks to my dads friend John who builds Spirit racings transmissions. He taught me more than I could remember on how automatics work and who invented the gearset concept of the 3 speed.

Gonna put in the shorter shaft, instal a shift kit and some stronger thrust washers to help it hold up. The trans was rebuilt 4 years ago

Also tore the dana 18 apart and started to clean it. Took a trip to Border Parts and bought some new parts for it. Left with a little less money

Ran the brake lines and fuel line

Transfer case all rebuilt.

Transmission all rebuilt with a street strip shift kit and some other stuff

Then put the trans and engine in tonight

And the best part is that it runs. Crappy video but you can here it

I drooped out my front end and the driveshaft needs 4 1/2" of plunge to go through 12" of travel. My stock shaft only has 2 1/2". Wasn't going to work but I had two front shafts, so I cut them up and made my own.

I had to turn down one of the yokes to fit inside the tube

The splined shaft cut off. Mine was teflon coated(bonus! lol)

Had to grind down the edge of the yoke to fit

Sleeved the 2 yokes together with a piece of 1 3/4 .120 wall with 4 7/16" plug weld holes

Ground the two spline portions of the shaft to a point and put them in angle with plenty of clamps

Welding it up

Time to turn the weld down in the lathe

Welded up

Splines all lined up

All finished with the slip yoke

Plenty of travel
