I just installed a set of these headlight capsules in my 96. Cost me just under $40 for the pair, but I will say the whiter light I get from them is better than the old yellow glow. Definitely not the blue tint the cheap ricer lights put out.

I would recommend this if you don't mind paying twice as much for high quality lighting. Of course HID would be nice, but that isn't in my budget.

I just got them for my 94 and love them. Makes night riding easier and pisses off the lowriders as well

got the cool blue in the 94 love driving at night now just to clean the lenses of on the 87 and get a set in there

I have hids in my focus and the silverstars for fog lights. Once the hids warm up you cant tell the color diference on the street. If you look at the light from the front the hids are really white/blue compared to the silverstars. I love em for fogs but nothin beats the hids.

I tried SilverStart, not that impressed. For half the money, I put in GE SuperBlue (I think it was) and couldnt tell a difference between the two. Ill be posting a comparison of 4 different lights soon.

If you want light and have the money convert to HIDs. Converted the wife's car on the account of her being blind at night. They are pricey around $400 but worth every penny IMO.

I bought the silverstar headlights for my 78, at the beginning of this month. They both burned out before a week's time. At the same time, too. Wierd really, they both shined a real bright blue for half a second, then no headlights at all. Put my old headlights back in, good as new now. Worst 50 bucks I ever spent

Misconception true 4100K HIDs do not blind oncoming traffic. The want-a-be blue xenon 80-100W bulbs that parts stores sell, because they have that cool ricer look, blind people. Also I can't speak to the higher powered ones at 5300K and above. Most driver's that see them think they are HIDs just because they are blue tint or extremely bright. HIDs give off a different frequency of light that is closer to daylight freqs. This reduces night time fatigue and increases range of vision. Living in Germany for 3 years I was not once blinded by HIDs. In fact the speeds that the Germans travel on the Autobahn you would think that they would have banned them if they were blinding people. BTW are they going to take SUVs off the road next. After all their lights sit higher and do blind oncoming traffic qite a bit. Also more and more new production cars in the US are coming off the line with them instead of the traditional halogens. If the lights are aimed properly they should not cause blindess to oncoming drivers. The rera HIDs do not blind drivers anymore then our stock and lifted trucks do. Try talking to the Autozones and other parts stores that sell these high powered bulbs at the counter. These are the real culprits. Sorry about the long post, but I have heard this from other people before. Then they take a look at our HIDs and realize that they aren't blinding.

With my hids people flash theirbights at me thinkin I have my brights on. Well are they wrong cause the brights on my car are close to a kc daylighter. My lights are real easy to look at when there coming at you cept for when I hit a bump then you come in direct line of the beam and your blinded by the light. The hids all have a distinct pattern to them so they dont blind people. Mine the light is really bright on the road then goes out and stops. It a real crisp line to where it stops in the distance. The halogens the light just fades away off in the distance.

Ahh, that would make more sense, especially if someone is spending that much for a pair of lights

stupid question dave but you didnt touch the accual bulb with your bare hands did you?

I would be taking those bulbs back and shoving them up there ass, I have had my silverstars for over a year without any problems. defently worth the money in my case.

Nope, not a stupid question at all... actually, since I use the 6054-style bulbs, there's no chance of me touching the actual bulb itself. It was wierd actually, when they went, they both went at the same time, with both of them shining the real bright blue for that half a second, then both dieing out at the same time

I hope it was just a fluke - odd as it was - but I'm not spending another 50 bucks to find out

hey david... sounds like you might have had a power spike to your light bulbs. Happened to me too once. It was on my ricer (1977 Datsun 280Z) Just put in some funky after market lights. Turned on the car, turned on the lights, and watched my amp meter start to oscillate in a wierd way (peaked at like 18) and then POP, lost both headlights, and front markers, and blew about 8 fuses in the fuse box.
Turned the car off. Popped the hood, checked around. yanked the alt/gen, brought it to a friends (he was a navy e.t. /electronics technician) and he tore it apart and started talking real fancy and technical to me. Basically there is a regulator inside and if it doesn't work right, zappo@! instant power spikes! He said non OEM equipment might not have the right.....impedence?....resistance?....hell something like that and if it doesn't match up properly with the rest of the electrical system, you get prollems!!

I just bought a pair recently.. they're okay.. the brights are alot better than my stock

IVe got them, running them now, nothing to write home about, but they are okay/nice.
