BDS Suspension

Well the other day my mom called a local 4 wheel shop about a lift. They told her that they only put on BDS lifts. I havent heard of many people using this type of system and was wondering what the quality of it is. I really had my heart set on a skyjacker system but I guess I will take whatever they give me :( Thanks.

BDS is one of the best you can get. the BDS and dick cepek are very simualr and are by far the best TTB lifts out there. get the BDS with new arms and youll love it, ask damager

ah ok. I did know that dick cepek was a really great lift kit but I always thought it was out of my price range. That kind of makes me think that the BDS kit is going to be expensive too. Also the shop said BDS was a great lift but i mean any shop would say that about any kit they were trying to sell you.

MIne rides AWESOME on and off road ... too much from here .. you gotta remember Bro that I am now in Canada due to marriage .. there was no place up here that carried BDS when I bought it, so I had the guy from the 4x4 shop that the jeep club I ride with get it for me ... I couldn't begin to compare the prices man.

It really isn't all THAT much more .. remember you get what you pay for


I have the rear blocks and sway bar lowering kit if you want them .. might be pricey shipping due to the weight of the blocks ... if you want them, pay for shipping from H9W2T2 canada and throw me a $20, they're yours


Blocks are not here, but you get the picture .. if you actually WHEEL it, I wouldn't recommend the blocks, but if you wanna lift it cheap and are a pavement pounder with a little bumpy trail riding, no prob.

yeah. haha "A Proud American stuck in Canada". I was trying to keep a tight budget because Im only a student so I dont make a whole lot. Ive already gone over budget on the lift alone (not including new tires and rims :( ) I would probably take those blocks off your hands but the shop wouldnt install them. You always have to buy THIER stuff so thats a major pain in the ass.

so save the money and do it yourself! ... it really isn't that hard...you could do it with a friend over the weekend.

There are good directions that come with the lift

I really would do it myself but I just dont have the tools. Not to mention my mom wants this done only by professionals. She thinks I will screw up the truck causing even more headaches for her. I would do it in a heartbeat if I could, I really want to learn stuff and have more hands on experiance no one has ever taught me anything about my truck since my dad died. SO anyways my mom is called around for a lift because ive been bugging her to let me get a lift. Now my passenger tires are BALD. Just as bald as ogechee's swampers. I told her that I would pay for new tires IF they were the tires/size I wanted. Now since the tires are dangerously bald she/I dont want to be driving in the rain because I know I will hydroplane in an instant. Therefore she has come to a crossroads and I guess were calling it an "early graduation present". So take that however you want and think whatever you want about me but I really dont want to be known as some rich snobby kid who dosnt know shit about his truck. Hence I am here, at FSB learning

Back in the day, BDS and Trailmaster used to be in the same building, if they ran out if a part they would walk next door and borrow one to complete a kit, and vice versa. this was back when doth companies were smaller. According to what I was told when I was in the industry, you can't patent a lift kit. Most Companies use VERY similair parts to acheive certain lifts, Although with the newer vehicles and more complex suspensins this is less and less the case. If we had the ability to lay out ever manufactuers kit/s next to each other. Some parts may be so identical they were made by the same company. Smae extened raduis arms might be the same. The pitman arm drop brackets are porlly all the same, cant get to different with those.

I know alot of Guys here have had alot of success with Skyjacker and Superlift, I have had very bad luck with there customer service when I was inthe industry. As a result, I personally would only use BDS, Trailmaster (Although they are getting to big for their britches so to speak) and Procomp. I really like Procomps stuff, and my local shop that I used to work for, and still get along with everyone but the boss, has very close ties to the Procomp Factory Rep, which is always a Customer service plus. I still keep close ties with the former Trailmaster Rep, and he likes there product too. And he is the sharpest overall suspension guy I have ever met. He works miricacle much the same as ALOT of the members here do, especially the ones who urge you to do it yourself. They are better then I, I probably could do it myself with help and airtools, but I really don't want to try, that's why mine isnt lifted yet.

I've got BDS rear springs, they are a little stiff on the road, but I'd rather they be that, then a little to mushy on the trails. And you can't beat the warranty. The shop I bought them from told that even with spring sag, just call them up, they will have BDS ship out new springs, then I can return my old BDS springs and pick up new ones at the same time. They don't have to inspect them before they replace your parts. You can't beat that.

HEY ACCESSORY MAN!!!--- are those hood scoops functional? I am trying to design a system to get my two air intake hoses combined into one and then running that one pipe to an outside air location. ALSO do you have any pics with ALL of the Daylighters burning? that amount of light must be amazing at night. how bad is the bleedover (into the cab) from the roof mounted lights? and oh yeah how long can you have them all lit before your battery shites the bed?

No the scoops aren't functional they were for show, and it helped me sell alot of them when they first came out and I was in that business. The roof mounted lights aren't actually hooked up yet, I want to run dual optima's and a 200 amp alternator first, the front 4 are incredible though, with just the front 4 I can shut my headlights off and you can't even tell I did it from inside the cab. I am probably gonna finish wiring the roof ones anyway just not use all of them at the same time until I upgrade since 2 of the roof ones are flood fogs, the amps drawn from the 5 on the roof and the 4 on the grill guard are close to the same. I just wont do either at idle with the AC on

I know what you mean!! I turn on my lights, a/c fan, rock lights and daylighters (both sets), I watch my needle creep down from 14 volts to just over 8 volts in about 1 minute, and then I turn everything off for fear of ruinating sumthin' !!! LOL
