Bronco Info: 1983 Ford Bronco 4.9 i6 - should be called old rusty entire floor needs to be replaced

Rear body, floor panels

Hey, I have looked around and cant find the info I need.

I want to take a F150 truck box floor and rear wheel tubs and cut them to fit into the rear of a similar year Bronco. Has anyone done this? Can it be done? Rough measurements it looks as if it will fit ok. Can pick up a truck box 150 CDN no rust minor dents. Cheeper than new wheel wells and fabricating new floor. Panels very hard to find in British Columbia

Ok, either no one has undertaking this kind of restoration or they have all used new panels?

Cant find all the new panels I need in Canada and cross border shopping is way to expensive. I can buy a non running f150 for less than 500 with all panels intact so thought it would be easier to get the sheet metal I needed. BUT what I was looking for was someone else that may have been brave enough (stupid) enough to take this on!?!?!

ANYONE OUT THERE?

Seems to be the f150 wheel wells weren't as deep - anyways there was something obvious when you looked at both back when I was considering it.

I did something similar, and grafted about a foot or so of rear part a pickup bed into the rear part of the bronco, behind the fenderwells. If your bronco is like mine, the rear most support member underneath the floor will be rotted away and have to be repaired and /or replaced. Where the floor ties into the tailgate sill is different, but not too big a deal.

You should check the frame where the body mounts attach, and see if it's rotting out. Check the little wells behind the seats where the seatbelts attach. Also, check the pickup fenderwell panels, (there are caulked seams between the fenderwells panels and the inner corrugated panels), to see if there is an additional corrugated row. I know the pickup panels behind the fenderwells has them. I cut them out and spliced in 16 gauge sheetmetal, because the bronco's are flat there.

Does the pickup have a bump out behind the left fender well for the gas tank filler neck?

Cant do it without alot of extra cutting from wheel well depth width, overall box floor width, there is way too much cutting to make the price worth while. SOooooo, of to the metal shop to get some sheet. We will make our own. I have added some pictures of it to my garage for those interested in the rusty issues...

You can get premade wheel wells that are universal and come in a lot of diff. sizes for under 100 bucks and they are preformed already just cut to fit and weld in.
