1993 Bronco Rock Crawler Build

I've been working on this project for over a year and have a build thread on Pirate and a couple local forums and have been meaning to get one started here since this forum is responsible for making me fall in love with this truck and wheeling.

I have a 1993 Bronco, and my general plans for it are as follows:

  • 3 link front and 4 link rear
  • Dana 60 front and Sterling 10.25 rear (keeping the stock 4.10 for now, planning on regearing shortly after the build is complete and I shake down the rest of the rig)
  • FOA 2.0 14in travel reservoir coilovers all the way around
  • Full hydro
  • Boatsides
  • Running 38 Swamper SX's on H1 beadlocks and runflats
  • Roll cage
  • Moved drivetrain
  • Would like to do some engine work, but that is last on the list and will be subjected to how depleted my finances are

This is a picture of my Bronco how it started back in high school. This is at Crozet. 33" AT's and 4" Superlift, stock otherwise.

Some of the bling:

I'm running 1.75x.120 wall uppers, 2x.5 threaded lowers with JJ's on all sides. Front panhard is using Ruffstuff heims.

I welded up my rear carrier and axle tubes front and rear. I kept the front open as I want to keep some form of agility with having a fullsize rig and longer wheelbase. If I find that I want more traction I will weld the front as well.

Tons sandblasted, primed, and setup under the truck.

Got some headers for a damn good price.

My first try at using a lathe on my $12/foot lowers

Drivetrain finished and in its final place:

Flatbelly. The transmission is going to be in my lap though lol.

Transmission/transfer case crossmember.

Gained alot more clearance to stuff my suspension.

Headers installed.

Made new motor mounts.

These koozies are awesome too. My new favorite "tool" haha

Sitting on its own weight for the first time in 18 months

That is at full bump.

I started the boatsides tonight. I don't think they will be near as difficult as I first thought. I'm hoping to have them done by month's end. After that, I'll be mocking up coilovers and building the cage.

That bumper took alot of fab and design work to look as good as it does, lol. My friends think its fun to weld random shit on my rig when I'm not looking :shaking:

I was just thinking about this on the way to work this morning. I am probably going to run 2x2 tube along the top and plate the sides of the frame and tube.

Damnit, I had convinced my self to not dovetail it. Now after seeing yours, I really want to. That looks really good.

Quite a build you have going here. Crozet is a nice place to go if I do say so myself. So what is your pleasure, Richmond or Blacksburg?

I will. I need to figure out how I'm putting my winch back on and what I want to do about a front bumper first. Right now I just have a piece of poop pipe tacked into place for stiffness.

I'm originally from Richmond, but I go to Tech in Blacksburg.
