Gas tank issue/leak

So last time i filled my bko up I leaked gas and I though It was leaking from what I think has to do with the charcoal canister/vent system. Here are 2 views of the thing I am referring to.

Now should there be a clip or something that clips that piece down? Should there be a seal on it as well?

Yeah it's that stinkin' fragile-ass tank vent thing! LOL :)

They ain't cheap from Ford. Be sure to get a new seal that -fits- -it-.

Yours might only be the seal leaking but you'll prob'ly break that flimsy
piece of crap taking the tank out anyway, BTDT -twice- and was being
careful as anything the second time too. LOL :)

What I did instead was went to using the single-type-vent that's made
from solid tough-assed nylon that Ford used in earlier models. YMMV

Sometimes you can find the solid nylon type layin' on the ground etc
at the wrecking yard. BTDT too. ;)

ps- Here's the Ford part numbers for the strong nylon type vent...
E7DZ-9B593-A (single port) valve
F6TZ-9B076-AA seal

Hmm, not trying to drop the tank. The body has a 3 inch body lift. And noticed
gas was coming out in that area. I was gonna try to push it down. But I'm not
sure if it clips in place or has something that secures it to the tank somehow.
I guess a body lift has got to have at least one benefit huh? ;)

No metal clip but it does sort{a} snap down into the rubber seal.
The seal might be cracked and causing the leak. ??

With your lift you can prob'ly pull the flimsy plastic vent out
where {the tank} sits and then pull the rubber seal and inspect it.

They go back together: seal back in tan{k} first then the vent.

If needs be, the old Permatex (shellac) is the best "gasoline
resistant" sealer BTW.
