lots of tlc in my way
All right so I have an 1989 5.0 bronco. It sat for seven years in the back yard and I'm bringing her back but rear main seal aint my problem. When I finally started it I let it run for about an hour the started tinkering with it.
When i started to press on the gas it would try to die on me but would push through it. I tried to rev it a little bit and to listen to the problem. After doing that it started to pop and backfire. It keeps doing this while idling. Need some advice on what to do. Also checked distributor, wires, and plugs Need some help...

I have a 87 5.0 doing the same thing. I think it's in my fuel pressure but not sure. If you figure it out be sure to let us know what it is. Full tune up on mine didn't help any.

X2 would not hurt
Yes run it through a vacuum line. Quote:
What kind of prep work did you do to get it started and running after sitting for 7 years?

Hey man, I hope you didn't start it with 7 year old gas in the tank, seafoam or not, gas that sits for more than a month without treatment usually goes bad, with treatment you might get a max of a year out of it. But 7 years? I'm pretty confident that's just water now. I would start with draining the tank, maybe even flushing out the fuel lines if you can, some fresh 93 octane, and some fuel injector cleaner/ water remover in there to get the stuff that has already ran through your lines and injectors.
Also, change that oil! New plugs maybe, and check all your vac lines for cracks. 7 Years is a lot of time my friend.

I poured fuel mate in mine and ran it till it was empty. Not saying its the best idea but why drop the tank when you'll never get it all out? I'm almost positive I have mine figured out. Will know for sure tommarow and will let y'all know what it was if it fixes it.
