Last year for 4.9L 300?
What was the latest year model to have the straight 6 as an option? I would like to have a bronco with the straight 6 in the near future and I want it to be as new as possible. Thanks for any input.

92 was the last year in a BRONCO and extremely rare....96 was the last year in an f150, and since the 250/350 were a year behind for the body change, 97 in the heavy duty.
with a parts truck, you can make a v8 bronco an I6 bronco in a few days. |

Only positive accolades intended.
What I meant is that you posted a much more accurate, complete and researched response as opposed to my piddly four digit response. I did not represent Cliff Clavin very well. This type of good information is what is expected from you! I filed it for later reference.

Because Broncos are so much heavier than F150s, and those last few years didn't see many low-trim Broncos rolling of the line, so they just stopped offering the "little" engine.

I don't know what is so appealing to me about the six but for some reason I like the idea of one in a bronco for towing with low end torque. I feel like there are less ways to improve and modify them than the 5.0's and 5.8's. I'll be happy with either of the 3 as long as I can rebuilt it the way I want it.

Sackman, that's just ANOTHER website with information that may or not be true... It says in 1993 the transfer case of choce was a New Process but I thought its been a Borg Warner since the mid eighties...? If my 96 was nearby I'd just crawl under and look but oh well.

Andrew, I agree with what you're saying but I'm pretty sure 93 was the last year for the 4.9

And what the heck is up with them citing a NP 200 Transfer Case when we all know that it was a Borg Warner 1356? The NP 200 came in the 1967-1969 Jeep/Kaiser M-715 1.25 ton military trucks, old military Dodge M-37's and older Powerwagons and Internationals. I stand by my research into what Ford actually offered in the Bronco. 1990 4th Generation - 300 I6 (4.9L)/Mazda M5OD-R2 5-Speed Manual Overdrive - 300 I6 (4.9L)/E4OD 4-Speed Automatic Overdrive - 302 V8 (5.0L)/Mazda M5OD-R2 5-Speed Manual Overdrive - 302 V8 (5.0L)/AOD 4-Speed Automatic Overdrive - 351W V8 (5.8L)/E4OD 4-Speed Automatic Overdrive 1993 5th Generation - 302 V8 (5.0L)/Mazda M5OD-R2 5-Speed Manual Overdrive - 302 V8 (5.0L)/E4OD 4-Speed Automatic Overdrive - 351W V8 (5.8L)/E4OD 4-Speed Automatic Overdrive
