Gear and Locker Question

Sorry fellas, I'm not mechanical at all so pardon the simplistic question.

I've got a 92 full size w/ a 351W w/ an automatic (w/OD) transmission. I've just had a 6 inch suspension lift installed and 35 in tires. As you can guess, I have no low end power. It does run pretty good at 65 mph though. This is a weekend driver. Some offroading, but nothing extreme.

Here's my questions:
1. What gears? 4.11, 4.56, 4.88?
2. Good/economical option for a rear axle locker (not full time).
3. Best places to order gears or lockers from?
4. Is there an average price range for a shop to install these?

1- since u are running 35's you want at least 4.56
2- depends on how much you want to spend. I suggest staying away from auto lockers and stick with a manual type locker. Such as a electric or cable locker, air is good as well but probably the most expensive.

autolockers are cheapest and aren't as bad as everyone who doesn't have one thinks they are. most shops will charge over 1k to do both axles. and go with 4.56s or 4.11s. 4.56s will give you better low end but 4.11s will give better mileage.

If it's a weekender and offroader I'd go with a Detroit and I have one in mine. Gear wise I would go with what's said above atleast 4.56 with those 35's since you have od. Where to buy I'd try places like summitracing.com, 4wheelparts.com and jegs.com. they all price match and will do battle to get your business. I paid 1200 to get new gears and lockers put in mine last year and that was low in my area. going to have to shop around for that and don't just go for the lowest price you want quality and experience also.
