Junkyard Find - AutoLamp Explorer Mirror
Found this really nice looking Explorer Mirror today. Not bad for $10.00
![]() ![]() Should be pretty simple to tie it in to the headlight harness. Then I will have automatic Headlights and Auto Dimming Mirror! Only thing better than this would be to find one with a back up camera screen built into it. I have to get the relays and wiring supplies to install it tomorrow. :)

Found a Cherry Expedition Steering wheel and column to match my interior. In Fantastic Shape. Gotta go pull it tommorow.

Steve83,
Where does 294 (W/LB) go to from the main Headlight Switch? http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/6...adlights92.jpg

Instead of posting a fullsize image (which gets resized so it's illegible), just edit the linked thumb (which can be enlarged in a new window) into your post above. Look in the logic table - it says how to test W/LB, which is the revised circuit 19 LB/R.

I assume that your mirror contains the sensor/amplifier in addition to the controls, which are separate in that diagram. But I suspect the wire colors will be nearly the same. |

I found this link to a writeup on how to wire it into an explorer for guidance.
Should be fairly straight forward to tap into the circuit. http://www.ranger-forums.com/interio...adlights-7112/

I spent the morning at the JY today. Made some good finds.
My temp is reading way off on the OHC, so I scored a new Thermometer. [IMG] [/IMG]I also pulled the mostly complete wiring harness for the mirror. [IMG] [/IMG]Also picked up a Headlight switch and pigtail to play with. [IMG] [/IMG]

So I pulled apart the front end to check on my temperature sender for the OHC.
Looks Different from the one I got out of the explorer. Bronco [IMG] [/IMG]Explorer [IMG] [/IMG]The connectors have been reversed. The part that was male in the bronco, is female in the Explorer. Wiring should be the same though. [IMG] [/IMG]

Your phone doesn't show thumbnail images? Or it doesn't show images that are also links? Or your phone won't let you click on links & see the images? If any of those, get a new phone.
![]() If not, I suggest the phone gets itself a new owner. ![]() Quote:

Yea my OHC computer is out of an explorer, thats why I figured I would change the sensor as well.
One thing that didnt change is, the passenger OHC lamp doesnt work. Didnt work on the old one either. Maybe theres a wire that took a screw somewhere. I dunno if the lamp wires go to the OHC computer, or if that wire goes straight to the Dome light lead. Ill have to study the diagrams. Edit: After a few days with the Explorer sensor installed, my temps are within 1 degree of my reference thermometer. About Time! Steve, Am I on the right track with my Mirror wiring? Im going to try to de-pin the HL connector and wire them to the pins instead of cutting and splicing.

If the module has soft LAMP buttons, the module controls them, and it's common for that part of the module to burn out. Read all the captions in the OHC album.
Your pic is too small & blurry for me to read. I keep my monitor at fairly high res, and since your diagram isn't linked , I didn't bother trying to type the URL & look for a larger version. But...Your diagram shows Wh/Pk being a ground-switched circuit, which doesn't seem right to me, but you haven't said what YEAR the donor was, so I can't look it up. As I said originally: I think all you need is the "Common..." section of the diagram I posted. |

I think it was a 99 Explorer.
So the back of the mirror has a 6 pin connector. They are: (Numbering is arbitrary, but left to right looking at the back of the mirror) Pin 1 - Not Used Pin 2 - Auto Lamp Signal - To Relay Trigger Pin 3 - Reverse Sensing Wire - Dont know where to splice this one Pin 4 - Ground - Splice to 57 (BLK) in OHC Pin 5 - Courtesy Lamp - Splice to 53 (BLK/LB) in OHC Pin 6 - Hot in Run - Splice to 296 (W/P) in OHC Will One 30 Amp Relay Supply Enough Power to Run Both Headlights and Parking Light? Or Do I need a separate relay for each? Mirror Connector http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/9.../wp_000495.jpg [IMG] [/IMG]
