I can only put gas in 10 cents at a time !!!! What

Hi I think I have air in the lines or a bad vent I guess my bronco won't let me put more than 10 cents of gas at a time with out stopping the gas pump so it take me like a hour to fill the truck

Was the gas tank recently dropped?

The problem has to do with the air return, it's either out of place from a recent drop, or it's developed a hole.

It's not an easy task, but can be done without dropping the tank.

If you crawl under the truck and take a look at the bolts holding up the tank, usually you can see evidence that the tank has been dropped before (missing bolts or mismatched bolts).

If this just started, most likely it's developed a hole.

I guess it could be, but what's going to clog it? Gas is liquid and that should be the only thing in there.....

That's not a gas pump issue, that's a truck issue. I had this exact problem on my spectra, the vent fitting for the vent line was clogged and full of garbage. $8 part, cost me $450 after i threw parts at it, gave up and took it to dealer. that was an expensive lesson.

I don't know if a bronco has that type of emission parts (vent valves and the like) but i'd check what steve suggested and make sure the vent for the tank is clear of all obstructions. Yes i KNOW how much it sucks to have to to trickle fuel into the tank, and i was only filling a 14gal tank. Couldn't imaging having a 33 gallon to fill.

You have a inch hose that is your filler hose. That goes into tank. Then you have the three inch hose around that.. 3" runs from tank to filler neck. 1" runs inside 3" and goes inside tank.

The large 3" is your vent hose. Look under rear fender at back side of filler neck. See if hose is linked at all. Or you can disconnect filler and pull hoses out to inspect.

Unbolt filler neck, lossen clamp on 3" hose. Pull filler neck off. 1" hose will slide out with neck. No need to drop tank.

I used to have this issue. It would take me a good 10+ minutes to fill my tank, and I had to stand next to it, leaning over, listening to the gas going in because once the pitch changed, I knew it was going to barf out a bunch of gas all over the ground.

It was a problem with the filler neck and it not venting. Once I figured out what was causing it, it was an easy fix.

a little bit better than the '75 F150 I've had for ~38 years. :)

If -your- trouble is because the filler hose fell off, then just know your '91
Bronco takes fuel -better- than the Ford-designed-it-that-way-early-
dent-side-pickups. And be friggin happy about it! ;) LOL

Just my 2 cents, but could it be possible that there is something in the filler tube? I am thinking maybe something like someone tried to stick a hose in the tank to siphon gas, and hose got dropped in filler.

Sounds to me like the filler tube fell into the tank and your just filling thru the vent tube. Its easy to check. Remove the clamp on the tank holding the vent line, remove the screws holding the filler neck to the body, remove hose. If you only have one hose thats the problem.

You think 10 or 15 minutes to fill a tank is a pain. Try over an HOUR. I'm talking about how our motor pool on base added a mesh screen to the 120 gal fuel tanks on our de-icing trucks. The screens would be clean, but they didn't let the gas flow fast enough and would always shut down the pump. UGH! And we didn't even fill them up all the way.
