find a cheap ass 4x4, like an old chevy pick up, lift it a good bit, put some boggers on it, cut the fenders, and weld the front and rear. snorkel if you want, but you should be fine by lifting it and cutting the fenders

Hmm
I will start here. Old Pick up. Pull rear bed, Front fenders, hood and axles. Next go find yourself some good Rockwells, good leaf springs or coils springs. To fit atleast a 45" terra tire... Fancy is a waste of money, spare, weight and time.

Um Ya he could or he could dump the heavy weight of it. and build a light weight out of tube and plywood. But like I said, I don't know what he's going for. He wasn't to specific.

What I'm thinking of is a open air buggy with a platform need something pretty tall I hunt big cypress often. I like the tube frame idea but do you really thing rockwells are needed? I was think of d60's but rear wheel steer would be cool but thoughs things are heavy!

Hmm Use what ever you want. The Hunting buggies up here run 45+" tractor tires. So they runs 1 ton and bigger. I can get a set of 2.5ton rockwells for $1000. Hmm front D60 is $1000-$1200. the rocks I wont have to touch other then lockers. D60s will need gears and lockers.
Do the math.

Start looking at mud hole websites. Like redneck yacht club fl.com, l-cross and all the other one's in florida. look at all the buggies. Decide how you want yours. start a file for your drawings, measurements, ideas. My buggy changed several times from my plans, and I'm still working on it. It's a 79 Bronc. I striped the body to the frame, deteremined how high i wanted the platform, welded the uprights, then the platform. Then made a console, got some u joints for the steering wheel angles, made some boxes to put the seats on, saved the break booster and master cyl. (you want breaks) remounted that on my console. and railings. Thats the basics. Not hard but do your reseach look at a lot of pictures.
