Altons Tire - SUX

Said it before, but had to say it again...
Took my Bronc to Altons for Fuel injection cleaning and Tune-Up.
Timing was off 15 degrees when I took it in... was STILL out 15 degrees when they were done.
Charged me $265.00 and obviously didn't do a proper Tune-Up. :flipoff:

BTW... Learned this the hard way for any other mechanically challenged folks out there:
If you time a FORD with EFI and don't disconnect the Computer Vac hose... you too will be 15 degrees off TDC. The computer keeps trying to compensate and throws the timing light off.

I had just found MBB shortly before this and honestly didn't know ya'll well enough to admit I was a mechanical retard.

I had the rediator and water pump replaced and that's when the timing was put off. Why I'll never know, but that's when the problem started.
Then took it to Alton's the next day, preparing for a trip to SandLake, OR. ORV Park to hook up with Oregon92 (Conrad) and some others.
I was in such a rush to make the trip I left Altons right out to the road.
I got 1/3 of the way there before the problem became unbearable and I had to turn around (Started to die wheneveer I'd pull up to a light or sign or anything and was ticking going down the freeway.) Got it fixed by taking it to an old friends dad (7 yrs ASE) who figured it out in 15 minutes. I didn't even have the first idea what it could have been at the time.

This failed trip was one of the big reason's I hesitate now to make any distance trips for wheelin. My wife doesn't trust the truck after that experience and when your a gimp with a kid... the prospect of getting stuck out in the boonies is pretty big deal.

I tawt it was just recently. I hate people that take advantage of others that don't know {no offense}, you know I would never offend you, atleast not behind your back, I mean aghhhh watever. I just tawt it happened recently.

Also what gets me is the water pump and the radiator should not have affected the timing unless they did it on purpose to make you come back for more unexplained repair bills. Aghhhh that just ticks me off.

Well Felix, it wasn't recent... but I'm still pissed at Altons.
You know the RULE: 1 dis-sat customer = 7 bad reviews. 1 happy customer = 2 good reviews.

I went to a radiator shop for the radiator and water pump... I think they may have gouged me on needing the water pump, but that's OK becouse newer is more reliable. Same as you though... why the hell did they screw w/timing? Didn't make sense to me and that's why I never even considered it as the source of the problem.

That's why I went to Altons... I'd already gotten the shaft from 1 place, so I went there thinking I'd get hooked up proper. Didn't happen!

Next time I'll do my own... with help from my FSB Friends!
