I've been three times so far this summer, all spur of the moment trips. Hit up slaughterhouse gulch again, was pretty fun. No problem with a locker, though my cousins jeep open took 1/2 hour to get through one part cause he refused the strap.
But hey lets go! I usually have Sundays off if that is good for anyone else? Whats the scoop on webster pass? |

Webster pass is a fun road that a stocker may have trouble on. Can't remember cause I haven't wheeled over it in 10 yrs. Went over in the dirt bikes about 4yrs ago and there were some good mudpits in the road. Bob since you have a locker I don't think you would have any problems.

I'm pulling my locker as soon as I can save up for a arb...which will be some time, but locker on a daily driver is not horrible, but I will be driving too and from school a lot this year.
I get a new schedule today or tomorrow, I get one day off during the week, and Sunday. So if you guys want to wait up for me, I can check the schedule to see what day during the week, or do Sunday. But that's only if ya wanna wait. Where are the other colorado members? There were like 7 at one point?? Bob |

Ok read the book on webster pass, this could get interesting. (He also mentioned in the book don't take red cone pass home unless you are supremely confident in your driving skills. "The 3/4 mile long descent is so steep it is difficult to walk down in places, and likely a rollover will ocur if you get sideways. Impossible to go up") -haha lets not take that way home.
Anyways this is what it said about webster pass. "Difficult. The switchbaks coming down from the south side of the pass are extremely narrow. I would not recommend this trail for full-sized vehicles. This section can be blocked with snow most of the year. If any snow is present, the trail is impassable. Your best chance to get through is in late August and early September. The lower end of the trail has some challenging sections and several muddy areas. Before you go back down make sure no one is coming up as it is very difficult to back up, and there is no passing areas. A couple of spots are a little off-camber, but the switchbacks are most difficult. At 5.6 miles there is a small stream crossing followed by an area of moguls where higher ground clearnace is necessary. You pass through an area of scree followed by another stream. The color of the soil changes dramatically at different points along the way. Bear to the right of a big mud hole at 6.2 miles At 6.4 you must pass through a mud bog. Fences have been build on each side of the trail to keep vehicles on the road. You pass by some abandoned vehicles before a fenced meadow at 7.5 miles. Turn left here if you plan to drive red cone. Straight downhill is the shortest way back to 285." Sounds pretty cool, with fullsize it will probably get pretty hairy. "fences to keep vehicles on the road." rofl |

Any day is good for me. I just need to know about a week before so I can get my stuff together and get ready for it. BTW, are we going to start on the 285 side and go over to US 6, or the other way? Montezuma is up there on the north side of Webster Pass and there's quite a few good places around there to wheel too. |

The way I take is going from 285 over the pass to montezuma. I will let you know that we will not take redcone as your a chicken sh!t!!!!LOL JK Red cone is a one way road as you can not drive it coming from montezuma side. It is really steep with moguls about 3 to 4 ft deep. We took my cousin over it in my dads old 83 and he was so scared he leaned the seat back as far as it would go and was pretty close to standing straight up on the floor.
If I don't have a job by next friday that'll work for me. Yeah Tim the way you have a lead foot you don't need a locker. ![]() |

Hahah MM, won't get lost this time I am VERY familiar with 285 up to Bailey. We can either meet in town, and head up, or meet somewhere on 285. Aspen park, Coniffer, conoco before crow hill (about an hour away from denver) Or just meet somewhere in town. Up to you all. |
