I know I'm coming late to the party..... but I love western NC. I have hiked and camped all around Franklin and Bryson City. I actually got married up on the top of Wayha bald. Maybe it is just me... since I lived in Fla for most of my life... but the temperatures in this area are awesome all summer. It gets in the mid 80's during the day and low 60's at night. When i was living in Florida I would drive 600 miles every summer just to get a piece of that. https://www.usclimatedata.com/climat...tates/usnc1188

If anyone is interested I would like to do this as a group

https://noc.com/plan-your-trip/white...yAAEgLG7PD_BwE

I can do some research... since it has been awhile since I have gone ( I have been waiting on kids to get old enough.. Boy turns 11 in sept so it is time he manned up on some white water). I used to camp here... Brookside Campground & Rafting - Nantahala River, NC - Great Smoky Mountains - Home... cool little mom and pop outfit. The guy would rent you a 6 man raft for the day for 35$. Of course you needed two vehicles to transport to the pick up and drop off... but with multiple Broncos we can rock it. I need a picture of three 5 man rafts strapped to the roof of the Bronco.

Anyway I'm only 100 miles south and plan on doing this a couple times this year anyway..... It would make it soo much better to hang out and drink beer with a bunch of Broncos guys after a day on the river.

Hell I might go this weekend

Trails range in difficulty...there is a turn out or detour if you don't want to perform a certain obstacle.

I am so glad to see so many spoke up for a piece of October. Looking forward to getting together with ya' all....lol...I live here now, gotta get the lingo down.

ANGELO....just FYI
When I made a run from Tampa Bay area to where I live up here in the mountains, I started with a full tank and spent exactly $112.50 for gas...still had a third of a tank too.

I know your situation varies from mine immensely, but I thought you could use it as a starting point for calculation on your gas.

Oh yeah, and you and Dad have a steak coming to you after a day of riding and convoying it up here to play with me...can't wait to see you guys, wish Casey and the crazyfish could come too.

Meh, its a nice drive. You should do it.

Five generations with an unlocked door and a loaded burgular alarm.

Come on up. I am originally from there. My family has lived in that area for about 200 years. We used to run those ridges growing up. I know some other places we can go if it hasn't been shut down. I am making the drive from South GA to my new home in East TN in the morning....I have checked all fluids, aired up the tires, checked voltages and packed my spare fluids and parts.

I love my 427 but man even with the entire cab sound proofed from the firewall to the tailgate its LOUD until it levels off at 2k @ 70mph.

This is a trip Id like to make. This park is on my list of future trips. Not sure if Ill be ready for October yet. The shop that has the front axle for big bronco is taking forever.. Ill consider just driving my little bronco but Im really trying to not wheel that one hard. Would be cool to catch up with everyone.

oh yeah, especially going through Atlanta..I have no doubt that the Bronco could make it, it's just the prospect of driving close to 600 miles in what is the equivalent to a tank on wheels..
