Found out my steering box leaks because the output/pitman shaft bearing is toast and the end wobbles around in there. To many bangs i guess, off to the wrecker or redhead steering gear if i had 450 bucks lol

yo,
I cleaned-up surface rust on both door sills @ B pillar; been concerned about it since mid-winter, hoping it wasn't a replacement job. Bulged Bisk has prevented me from getting into it until now.

See my partially recovered Bronco web site. Thanks to Mr. Schwim!

So do MotorCraft, Echlin, and everyone else. If I could build my own from US steel & polyurethane, I would.

Changed out my 3 month old belt for a new one. Really don't like Gates belts, or should I say my Bronco don't like em. If it wasn't for a lifetime warranty, I'd find the Goodyear Gator Back belt. I never had a problem with those. Once it wore out, O'Riellys replaced it with the Gates. They only last 6 months tops before they start making noises.

The previous owners apparently had the rear spring shackles and brackets replaced, which isn't surprising, since they always rot out. What was surprising though was the half assed way they did it. The brackets have four bolts that bolt them to the frame. Two of the bolts are difficult to access and basically require dropping the gas tank to get to them. Well, the guy who did it was too lazy to drop the tank, so he bolted the brackets on one side, and tack welded the brackets to the frame on the difficult side.

So since I already have the gas tank out anyway, I decided to fix the brackets too. The welds were so crappy it took about two minutes to grind them down and pop the brackets off. I cleaned up the brackets and painted them. I didn't have time to reinstall them. I also finished painting the underside where the gas tank goes. And finally, I also drilled holes in the frame for my new receiver hitch.

Yanked the transmission. Two bellhousing bolts were missing and one was backed out all the way. Flywheel had 4 loose bolts. It was also cracked 3/4 of the way around the inside.

Surviving is winning. Everything else is bullshit. Whatever it takes, kid. Survive.

Well, My day started about 6 weeks ago, I had to have a new engine installed, among a few other things.
So, I have a 100k/5 year warrenty with 187 miles on it. My round trip for work is only 1.5 miles so I have been driving to nowhere, wasting gas, to help with the break in.
Since I dont know Jack about replacing and engine, and working OT like crazy, I just had a local shop do it.
So, I have been doing the things I can and that are easy and quick to learn.
I replaced the door locks, handles and mirrors...with black ones.
I removed and painted the side emblems and painted the headlight trim.
Replaced the tail lights and grill, all the light bulbs also.
Took off the tire carrier, I plan on making an interior tire mount.
Put on 1 fender flair, trying to decide if/how I want them.
And the most fun, the Oval Ford front grill emblem. It took my me about 4 hours to sand it down. It was a pain in the ass...I do not envy anyone that does this-lol
Oh, please guys, be nice, if I posted to much on this post or thread. Just say...Dimwit, you posted too much crap...or something like that. I dont want to get my feelers hurt-lmao.

....so, now for a bunch of pictures.

It says " BONCO BRONCO", because it is so cool, you have to say it twice!!!

There are surface cracks on the Ford emblem that I couldn't/didn't sand out....I didn't want it to look too new.

I know, this stuff is just cosmetic and petty, compared to what you guys do and build......But how many of you can design, layout, build and install a million dollar casino restaurant interior? Thought so-lol

Thanks

-dimwit-
