What did you do to your bronco today?

Installed the second AP bushing this morning. Took me about 1.5 hrs this time - second time much easier than the first (like 6 hours!), even though I had to drop the entire lift bracket to pull the AP bolt since the axle ujoint was blocking the bolt’s removal.

Little removal trick I found: push out the inner sleeve with the press; take a sawzall and make about six cuts from the center through the rubber to the outer sleeve (like pizza cuts); hammer a flat head screwdriver (not your best one) between the outer sleeve and rubber and pry out in sections until all are out; use sawzall (with bi-metal blade) to cut though the outer sleeve (being careful not to cut into the bushing hole in the axle frame); drive same flathead screwdriver between the outer sleeve and the edge of the hole; pry inward and bend outer sleeve inward, working around the sleeve until it literally falls out.

On the install, beveling the leading edge of the bushing with an angle grinder and a little dawn dish soap for lube makes it push right in with the BJ press, easy peasy.

Big thanks to @sackman9975 for letting me borrow his ball joint press. Now I guess I better go get an alignment check. Totally stoked that I got this done though.

What did you do to your bronco today?

New window seals, greased up the window regulators and tracks, cleaned up the door panels, and wiped down the dash and front panels/glovebox. Windexed the glass and it’s looking pretty good. All these windows need a little tint though - I hate 100% untinted auto glass.

Learned how to do double flaring!

Replaced the fuel line from the tank to mid cab where there was already a union.

Between this fuel line fix and the distributor this thing is running very well.

Stopped in for an alignment check and adjustment this morning, post axle pivot bushing R&R. (I didn’t tell THEM that though!) Like I suspected (knew, actually), the toe was WAY out. The guy at the counter when I was checking out said “what have you been doing, man? Off-roading and jumping this thing??” Me: “naw, man, just hitting some really bad potholes and awful roads!” The toe was so bad it was compressing the front springs driving forward.

What they don’t know won’t hurt them! So, I got a warranty alignment done (FREE) and I’m good now, all in spec. Drives a ton better and no more front end wandering.

Haven't posted in a while because the Bronco has been out of commission with a curled frame on the driver side where the drop radius arm bracket mounts. Result was it pulled the driver wheel back 4", etc. multiple shops said either woudln't work on it, or needed a new frame (didn't want to work on it). so 2 anchor trucks with 12,000lb winches, a bunch of chains, shackles and snatch blocks later (and a pissed off HOA), we straightened the frame... did a cursory alignment adjustment and drove it just fine up and down the main road at 60mph. power steering is jacked, so ordered new superlift steering setup, new gear box (its the original), new pump, ancillaries, as well as new radius arm brackets...and she'll be solid. I could drive it now...just the steering pump is shot. Went from not doing anything for months...to straightening the frame in a couple of hours. pretty happy with that outcome. and not a single picture...though maybe i need to ask the HOA or neighbors. :)

Got the oil seals and springs installed on the 2nd head, ready to bolt on the block. Slow process getting this engine done in my spare time. This whole legitimate employment thingy sure gets in the way of my Bronco.

What did you do to your bronco today?

@Blue1551 You have a Borg Warner 1356. Very common TC. What kind of “info” are you looking for? Maybe start a thread in the Noobie section for better exposure. Or do a search in the forums.

I am not sure what info I will need for future repairs and upgrades. I think I would like to know what the info on the tag means. I will look at the nubby idea.

Side note, it took you less than 30 sec to respond to my post. That is amazing.

The biggest thing you need to be aware of is the issue with the pump arm, especially on high mileage units. The arm slowly eats through the case and when it does, it'll spin and chew everything up.
It's an easy fix, but you need to drop the case and open it up.

You can see where the arm ate through here:

To fix it, you can weld a rod to it to give it a lot more surface area. Just did this yesterday:
