4R100 Super Duty Trans Gasket Tips?

I had my filter and trans fluid replaced last December on my F-350 4R100, I
asked for a new gasket but the shop reused the old one. What can I do to make sure it doesn't leak out of the gasket this time? RTV on some spots, make sure mating surfaces are clean etc.?

The newest pan gaskets are steel-spined rubber gaskets that are reusable. Just ensure that the bolts are all properly snugged and that the pan is not damaged (such as from bottoming out or snagging a boulder). Any leaks still occur, verify there's not another leak source, then if it is leaking, just replace it. Yeah, in a case like that, I've had owners who insist on a new gasket, even though those are reusable, so we just get a price on one, tell them, let them make the final decision there.
