Although it came out later, the International Travelall was everything the GM suburban wanted to be.

Better looks (subjective)
More capable
More doors:

The travelall added a second door to the passenger side in 1958, and a second door to the driver side in 1961. GM didnt add that 3rd door to the suburban until 1967 and the fourth in 1973: a full 12 years after the Travelall.

The Travelall was also available with the bulletproof T19 transmission and inline sixes putting out Chevy V8 power. Axles were usually Dana, but a couple 10k+ pound rated 2 speed Eaton axles were available too. Transfer cases were NP202 or 205 or Dana 20 or 300.

Plus it wasnt a CHEVY!

That is a slick suburban though!

Damn. I knew they were sisters and all but running such a similar rig, with the same name... what's the point? No wonder those Chevy guys are so confused all the time. I'm surprised it lasted up until the Yukon.

I am one of the few oddballs that like the look of the International Scouts and from what I've heard over the years, they were pretty damn capable when setup but I've also heard and seen that they rust out like a corn can left in a field.

Oh okay, you threw me with the specific CORN can thing instead of tin can in general. Besides, I live in a desert where only International Harvester trucks and the rare Fiat rust...

Everything rusts here. Even plastic! I too love the IH trucks. Was a 4 door mid 60s pickup rotting in a barn near my house as a kid. Short little bed too. I wanted it so bad, but it was trash.

Fishing with corn!? What were ya going for, carp??

When I was a kid we went fishing in A place where the Salmon were thick as fleas and wouldn’t bite anything except whole kernel corn, and of course it was illegal to use that...

I didnt think about them cold water fishes, beings we dont have no cold water within 500 miles.

We fish for these ugly things here...

World record Flathead (yellow) catfish at 123 pounds. Caught here in KS.

Out on Milford Lake, they troll for blue cats with TWELVE INCH goldfish

Or these super fighters, the Wiper. It's a striped bass and white bass hybrid

That was back when I was still using a reel with the push button release and still hadn't gotten very handy with a worm.
We have plenty of cold water up here. Dad's a bass fisher by preference but if I had to live or die by my fishin' skills... I'da been dead long ago.

Sadly, I just sold his boat, trailer, e-motor, life vests, etc. a few weeks ago for $400. He's kickin' over 80 tomorrow and it's catching up with him. He wants to help me get a decent welder with it (had that thread on it) but I've got a bro who's been needing a lot of my help and attention lately, so all my projects around here have been on the back burner. When your bro's need you... that's just what you do.
