Deleted Post sugestion
I have two recomendations concerning deleting posts.
In the tech section, there is a thread that says:
"In an effort to make the tech write ups more user friendly any and all posts that are not directly related to the actual tech write up can and most likely will be deleted, so any "atta boy" "good job" or "damn I need to do that" all though we are sure appreciated, are not tech related".
I agree with this policy and I think it could be used in the build section also. There is allot of "attaboys" that really make reading a build a long task. Now I know some people like hearing that and complain about the deletions.
What could be done is leave all posts as they are for fixed amount of time. Say 30 days. That would give the OP time to read them and respond if they choose. But the comment and response would disappear after 30 days. Lets face it, nobody is going to read that stuff a year later. (or five)
Now having said that, I have also seen a mod delete a post that is a question about the subject. The explaination givin was that they could PM the OP this question. I do not understand this policy. If someone has a question, why not answer it in public one time? I mean, if one person has that question, maybe many more will have the same question. It doesnt make since for the OP to answer it over and over. And of course some OP's leave the site and are not available to answer years later.
