Ultimate TTB coil adapters.

I made a set of coil adapters to fit TTB springs on solid axle a few months ago and a few guys liked the way they looked. They wern't bad but they lifted the Bronco a little too high. I also thought I could make them a little better. Here's a look at the original ones.




This is where they go. Between the radius arm and coil.



A friend with a mill and lathe made these up for me. The new ones eliminate the two part adapter and should get the Bronco back to about 6" of lift when project SAS2 is completed.




Bronco is sold to another member but the memory will live on.

that's to run ttb coils on a solid axle? How are they for springs mounting without bow?

The TTB springs seat differently than the solid springs. They can pivot so they don't have that problem. My old ones bowed differently because the axle ended up being pushed 1" forward of the top coil buckets. I had the two bolts moved forward on these mounts moving the axle back. there should be no bow now.

I realize they seat different that's why I run the 79 Coils and I have no bow running all stock parts and no shims

wow those are damn nice
i was wondering how well it worked without the bow in the first picture because this is the same route i took and i had to set mine back an inch or so i think it was an inch and a half from center. then i saw the second ones man those are cadillac!

Are those built on the same measurements you sent me?? Ive really got ot get some of those built... Mine work ok, but I just dont like the way they look.. Those are tits..

the only difference is I ended up using 5" stock to give a little more room for the bottom bolt holes.

The first set added about 2 1/2" to the lift which was a little to high for my liking. The new set should only be about 3/4". If you wanted more lift you could just have it made with a thicker base. I wouldn't want to go too high though. I would be afraid of snapping the bolts that hold it to the radius arms.

As far as I know they would. I haven't seen the cage arms myself but as long as the two threaded holes on the C caps are the same it should be no different than stock.

One thing I posted in my SAS thread that isn't here is the top part should be narrower than in the dimentions I made. They were a litle too thick and I had to grind them down to fit the bottom of the coil. Where I had the top at 2 1/2" it should be 1 3/4".

Actually I had them made. You can take the above pic to a machine shop and have them made. I don't know the cost it was a trade deal.

Got Mine !

First off - I want to thank 90beater for posting the plans for these adpaters ! major props to him !

Anyhow - I took the plans posted earlier in this thread to a friend - who then referred me to a machine shop. I handed the guy my RA's, a spring and these plans here's what he fabbed up for me:

I'm definitely jazzed....
The plan is to use the TTB upper coil buckets with the Rough Country 4" springs (hoping to net 6" of total front lift). Stock (79) bronco drag link & trac bar, 7* c bushings, Existing drop pitman arm.
And fabricate a trac bar mount.
