Help me work out my cam ?

Put this here as ( STOCK ) does not apply, what works for you guys? Ok here it is, 445 stroked FE with Eddy heads, T&D race rockers, stage II port, Box R intake with a Cleaveland 2V adaptor. Bottom end is forged H beam rods, pistons and crank with a 390 block. Now is where things get weird, E85 needs compression so I need less overlap like 114 seperation and long duration to make it breathe like 280-300. Also not sure where I want to be compression wise? I have clean heads with polished chambers, stainless back cut valves and pocket work so detonation should be non existent with E85 plus the cooling effect helps a lot too. The block can sustain 12.5 : 1 stock so I think 13.5 should be OK with no detonation and a 6000 RPM ceiling. I have the heads and block all set for Hydraulic roller and healthy springs to hold it down, plenty of air and fuel to support 300 CFM at the port, 90mm throttle body, dry sump, and 2Ē primary headers into 3.5 dual exhaust. So with that all in mind I am not sure where to go cam wise, by design I would almost end up with a S/C cam but this is normally aspirated. So any thoughts, thanks for the input...... Jon

Hmmm was looking and looks like 667 is about max lift without going solid roller. Donít think I need more, either way custom grind is what I gotta do, wish I could find E85 specific Dyno numbers but no info out there.

If you ask me every engine needs a custom ground cam, unless it's a stock rebuild.

For a FE i would call Barry at survival motorsports

Talked to Barry and Jay Brown they basically said E85? Talk to Comp Cams? I know alky cams are different to produce more compression but alcohol is something I am unsure of myself. Funny thing is there is little info on the web about running E85 as far as engine dynamics like camshaft lobe design and separation. For that matter with dual pattern, roller and steeper ramps the possibilities are mind boggling. When I talked to comp cams they gave me the cam basics speeches and I already know the basics but I want to maximize the potential for compression. I suppose if I had a desktop Dyno it would give me a better idea but theory's all I got.

Iíll need to take a shopping list, I did a little more math and research. I am sure one of the recommendations will have some solid info. Headers are a major obstacle also but Iíll have to get it assembled and in there first.
