Talking Riccog's 87 slow build picture heavy

well after a few years of owning my 87 bronco the time has come to start working on it. Thankfully majority of the work is being done at my work by students in the Auto collision program, I was willing to offer my bronco as a project for them to learn

after being parked almost 2 years I put on a new battery and it fired right up on second crank. aired up the tires and drove it 53 miles to my place of work.

here is what she looks like after arriving

here is where all the damage is at:
Hood

Cab

all the rust has only been on the surface
they started on the hood:

now taking the chrome trim to continue sanding

They complained about it being too high its stock height!

Yesterday I worked on pulling the front bumper and the tire carrier

One freaken bolt had to break! always have to be one! the others did not require very much pressure to loosen

hope not to bore any of you that follow but this class can only work on it for 3 hours a day M-F but it should be completed by June just in time for my daughter to get her license

thanks! the instructor is planning on retiring in december so he wanted to hook me up before he left. I do plan on treating those that work on it to a nice BBQ just to show my appreciation well it depends how good of a job they do (Tri-tip quality or hotdog quality )

They are doing a 2 stage paint job, and they told me they have a blue metallic color. I just haven't seen it yet, which it doesn't really bother me on the color since it's free ☺ the instructor said it will be almost the same as the original blue

There is only one of me, I am unique!
There is no other Bronco like my Bronco

well there has been some more work done to the bronco:
removing the adhesive & sanding all the spots where the trim moldings were.

they were having a difficult time removing the pinstripe

I think its coming along pretty good, plus I got a good hook up on some new tires, one of the students works at a tire distribution center and can get me these tires for $60 each for 31x10.5x15

it might not be a big name brand tire but it will be better that what I have now

Thanks fellas

well not much to show that has been done but here are some more pictures

I decided to remove the emblems

well today 2-9-15 they let her go outside to get some sun, they had to move it out so that the instructor's car can get worked on.

they told me hopefully next week they will primer it depending on how many students the instructor pulls to work on his car that got keyed this weekend.
its ok no complaints from me just grateful to get free work

Thanks I am looking forward to see it painted also

Not much has been done with the bronco that was worth posting
they blew off the bronco trying to get all the dust off from all the sanding they did to get it perfect

She is looking better already

then she got all washed up

am I wrong for letting others wash her?

well since the windshield was cracked really bad on the passenger side, I helped cut the glass out. it wasn't a fun job

the students started taping the bronco getting ready for paint. they are hoping to have it painted by thursday
