It's a good thing they wrapped those delicate parts in bubble wrap to ship them. I've heard horror stories about the shipping companies! Looks like you got lucky! Nice stuff, beautiful welds!

Thanks guys, it looks like they were welded with a pulse welder: "The pulsed MIG process works by forming one droplet of molten metal at the end of the electrode per pulse. Then, just the right amount of current is added to push that one droplet across the arc and into the puddle."

...and no Pepe` , they will be black.

i know this is an older post but i was looking to see if i could get some help figuring out a distributor problem i have. I own the same year make and model bronco you have. i am looking to get a new distributor, my wiring harness has a 5 blade plug it uses. but the only distributor coming up in my search have a 7 blades plug.

Well, winter is starting to wind down here, so I took the Bronco & Plow to the car wash and gave her a good blasting to get the salt and sand off yesterday. Having a body lift really aids in the process, lol. I put it up on the drive on lift and left the plow on, just in case we get another storm; then I uncovered the '57 and brought it home. (was a good day for it so I took the little Irish women for corn beef & cabbage while it was out)
My plan is to pull the front end out of it, install new ball joints and gears into the Desolate housings and put it back together and see how it sits, then adjust/modify/fabricate my front suspension accordingly. I had originally wanted to go with 5.89's for the Dana and 5.83's for the 9". Well, I had saved a few bucks and decided to buy the gears and a case spreader for the Dana today. I had a spreader and I let a good friend borrow it, unfortunately, he passed away and it got sold by the family with the rest of his tools. Story of my life, oh well, new one will be here next week.
Unfortunately the gears didn't go according to plan; while they do make 5.89's for the Dana 44, they do not make them in reverse cut gears. Therefore, the shortest gear I could find with a reverse cut gear were 5.38's. This left me two choices for the 9", 5.29 & 5.43's, the 5.29's were too far apart, IMO, for the 5.38 Dana then the 5.43's, plus the 5'43's will gave me a little extra in 2WD, although I would probably never be able to tell them apart.
Anyways, I didn't pull the trigger on the gears for the 9"; I'm probably gonna wait until I get the front done in case I need to spend more money on any surprises I might find. The 5.43's will probably come later in the summer.

I got a bunch of parts today too. Waiting on the rest of a huge $$$ order from Summit Racing, Rock Auto, Ed Curtis @ FTI, Precision Industries, and Punisher. Now once they all arrive, the work begins. lol

Sorry to hear about your friend. Sorry to hear about your luck too, but guess the best way to look at it is, the situation isn't reversed!

Getting closer, (other than the snow we got yesterday; at this rate, I'll never get this truck apart) I got my new case spreader Saturday. This guy builds them to order and I must say, he does quality work. The side plates are 1/2" thick and the pins look to be 7/8". Delivered to my door, $95 bucks. I had my old one for probably 35 years and I know I paid over a $100 back then.

Managed to get the housings sandblasted tonight. I washed 'em down and then air dried them. Gave them a quick warm up with the oxy/acetylene torch and one coat of Rustbullet; two more to go.
