1978 Bronco Leaking Top

Maybe this has been covered elsewhere but my top is leaking on the drivers side where the fiberglass top and steel body meet. This is near the top of the door and the steel roof seam are. I've tried covering the gap with tape with no help and even filled the gap with expanding foam. I've been holding off pulling the top to replace the seals until I'm ready to paint but I don't want to replace the carpet until I stop the leak, The passenger side is ok.

Are the rubber seals the only way to go?

Thanks.
