1987 Ford Bronco XLT 5.8L Exhaust Note

1. 1987 XLT / 5.8L

2. Engine is standard, however she is converted to run on LPG.

3. Exhaust manifold and downpipe is standard. No cat fitted. Rear muffler/silencer is an after-market stainless with 4" bore.

4. Idle sound - 2 / 2000rpm - 3 / 4000rpm - 5/6. Not that loud!!

Changes: 2.5" pipe instead of 2.25", "true" dual exhaust-no crossover, 2.5" cats and Moroso Sprial Flows, same tips
Rate it a 6.5 maybe, 7 from the driver's seat.

1987 F150
4 wheels, 4 tires, engine, transmission and transfer case, a seat and steering wheel. I have it all.

351W, Stock lower end, stock cam, stock heads, stock intake, stock throttle body


Custom Made Y pipe, No cats, 2 1/2 inch pipe all the way to a 40 series flowmaster. SVT lightning headers (No EGR)

Cold air intake (460 air tube) and a K&N drop in

Idk what to rate it, to me its not loud enough and i plan on adding a electric cutout. You rate it and let me know

engine: 408 probe forged rotating assembly 8.8-1 comp. internal balance afr 185 heads crane cam 1.6 roller rockers. vortech s-trim supercharger

exhaust: mac 1 3/4'' long tube headers 3'' collector 4'' dynomax race bullets dumped right after the cross member

I'd rate the idle about 4-5 and WOT about 7-8

idle with a couple revs


and WOT

the old set-up is on bottom, new is on top

Rebuilt 1993 Mustang Cobra motor bored .030 with aluminum pistons, Cobra heads mild porting and valve grind, Mustang intake, Mustang throttle body, Aftermarket 1/2" fuel rails with new 19# injectors, 1.7 aluminum roller rockers, stock cobra cam and MSD 6AL ignition and coil

3. Exhaust
Headman long tube headers with 3" collector. Reduced down to 2.5" to a 3" cut-out. Back to 2.5" all custom routed mandrel bends and straight pipes using JEG'S Hot Rod exhaust, no cats. Into dual single in/ single out Flowmaster 40 series, with 2.5" 45* turndowns for now until I finish routing the exhaust around the gas tank and but 3" tips on either side.

4. Sound level (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10)
1 Is silent.

summit shorty headers [for a 96 5.0. they have a bigger collector] homemade ypipe, with 2.5/2.25 headpipes, into a flowmaster 2-1 collector, 3" outlet necking down to the old 2 1/4 Flowmaster 50, with 2 1/4 flowmaster mandral bent tailpipe. no cat at this time

4. Sound level (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10)

At idle I will give this a 7 nice rumble, and a nice lope at any thing over 3k I give it a 8 thing just HUMMMMSSSSS WAYYYY hard to keep the foot out of it!!!

Ok heres a sample of my 1990 rig with a 460, straight headers to cat then nothing, pipes are removed from the passengers side back...no muffllers or anything, just headers and a cat with an overall length of about 4 feet...I think the motor is stock but im not sure..I took the video/audio with my digital camera so its not all that loud but you will get the idea I think..just ignore the shakey video as my son was holding the camera for me...http://s415.photobucket.com/albums/p...=Truck2062.flvhttp://s415.photobucket.com/albums/p...=Truck2064.flv
