As do I! I prefer the 73-75 grill. If I ever stumble across a very nice one for cheap I'll probably put it on my 77. My Bronco was lucky it came with round headlights and the big mouth grill has grown on me, so I gave it a stay of execution as far as giving it a grill swap. I'm not a fan of the rectangular lights at all and I would have swapped things had it came with them. Weird how preferences work, isn't it?

JustRight I like where this thread is going. Great job.

BigBlue 94 I too love the 73 style grille. Mines a 351m with np435 and np205 and two rusted solid axles. It last ran 15 years and one tree falling on it ago. Some day..

MONGOMANN75 I decided to keep the Ford pump for now, I already had it bought!

My sons truck is titled a 78, has a 77 cab on it, has the Ranger hood emblem, has a car 390 in it and from what I can tell was someones attempt at assembling something from nothing. As you can see he wants the early grille on it, we are picking up a 4 speed and all the fixins this weekend for it (currently a C6) He already has a set of doors, a hood and a tailgate for it. It had not run in 17 years and in about an hour we had it running, it has a mean lifter tick in it but I am hoping after running it a while that will go away. I am going to have to replace the floors on the cab and the interior piece just over the rear window, seems everyone of this trucks I look at that piece is rotten on, oh well, I have a year to get it done but I also have a buddies 86 square body Chevy in the mix as well. We are going to busy in the garage over the next year or more! Before any of that happens though we are going to finish BOV1!

As far as the decal I should be cutting mine soon, I will cut a second one for you when I do mine. Thanks for following!

BigBlue 94 Looking great! Except that CII Ford PS pump! Haha

Is that a 78 F150 Ranger? I've got one myself that's in significantly worse shape than that.

How's that air cleaner decal coming along? Lol

BigBlue 94 Definitely do the Saginaw swap. It's easy and well worth it.

For intake manifolds, you have 3 easily available options. The dual port offenhauser is good for carbs under 500 cfm. The Clifford and the Offy 'C' are open plenum and work well with 450+ cfm carbs. I have a Clifford with a 450 quickfuel 4160 4bbl on it. For a 2bbl, the autolite (motorcraft) 2100 series is almost indestructible and runs nearly upside down.

If you ditch the feedback system, you have to go HEI or retrofit a Duraspark2 ignition in. Or a points ignition. The HEI from DUI is great. It starts almost instantly.

If you are doing any slow crawling, I recommend staying away from headers. Mine heat up real fast, and will overheat the engine. Normal street driving, they are not a problem.

MONGOMANN75 The engine I am using sat for a while and was low on compression in #3, when I say low I mean like 10 PSI form the other cylinders. I am having the head gone through, new hardened seats new guides, valves and springs. My guy builds 300 heads for the gas and oil industry, he has a customer that runs their natural gas compressors with 300's. The compressors run 24/7 on the gas they are compressing. Those heads have special guides, seats and valves, there is no lubrication in the gas and he said it beats the seats clear out of the heads. I plan to use a split header and am looking for a decent intake, if I cannot find one I have the 1986 intake that was on the truck and plan to throw the feedback carburetor as far as I can what carb do you suggest? I am looking for an HEI conversion distributor and have been thinking about the Saginaw pump conversion as well. BOV1 is going to be my sons first truck so I want reliable and somewhat capable but not big block power for it....

BigBlue 94 Clifford ain't what it used to be. Quality has supposedly gone down hill.

If anything, a good manifold, 2bbl autolite carb, and efi exhaust manifolds will wake one up pretty good.

What's being done to the head?

MONGOMANN75 Nothing major to the 300, I had delusions of grandeur and thought Id build a Clifford Performance monster then I added it all up and figured there is no way. Got a lead on a finished block bored .020 and decked, my head is getting done at a local head shop that used to build Yenko engines.

I am looking for reliability and decent power. Plus my very first Bronco was a 300 with the 4 speed as well!

Awesome, any plans for "building" the 300?

Mine is a 309 incher, and has almost unlimited power.

What the!? Are you going with a 300!? Btw, WHERE THE HELL did you get that 300 air cleaner sticker? I must have one!

Also, love the square roll cage. I think I'm gonna do that too.

Keep up the awesome work

I had missed this thread before somehow, but just went through most of it and Great work resurrecting this Bullnose neighbor I'm sure your son has picked up some valuable skills along the way too

Lookin' forward to seein' it back on the road, as I'm sure you and KJ are too!
I appreciate your kind words! KJ has learned a lot from the project. it is growing long in the tooth and we are ready to get it out of the garage! 1 step at a time though. I have thrown all time related goals out the window at this point, I got tired of letting my self down and being disappointed in the progress. I go out when I can, I do what I can. Its getting there slow but sure. Thanks again man!
